Am I the only one to think that maybe WMA is just a more heavy format to decode in general? I bet you that a 128kbps mp3 isn't going to require exactly the same processing power as a 128kbps ogg file would. Maybe they should try comparing a DRM encoded WMA vs. a non DRM encoded WMA(if such a beast exists) before they start making claims that it is DRM alone causing the extra power consumption. MP3 != WMA.
Step 1. encrypt secret message. Step 2. embed image into the pixel data of an image from your digital camera. Something like a picture of your car. Something unique that can't be compared with another one found online. Step 3. Send email to your recipient. Step 4. recipient replies to message saying how much they like your car. Step 5. recipient retrieves encrypted data from image. Step 6. recipient decrypts message.
Not only is your message encrypted, but it is encoded into an image in a way that can be completely arbitrary.
Tell me how someone would be able to get your secret message, or even know that there is one there to begin with?
Embedding binary data into images is extremely easy and is impossible to distinguish visually from the original image(from what I was able to tell from testing). I'm wondering why we never hear anything about this? If anyone has any thoughts on why I am just being paranoid I would like to hear them.
Don't forget this is Microsoft we are talking about! It is possible they aren't even aware of the kind of tools that normally come with a real operating system.
I use gaim, and have been getting it to log my chats for over a year now. If I started the conversation with someone then I can sort of understand that they might not want it to be recorded. But I think if they started the conversation with me then recording should be fair game.
I have a feeling that KDE might actually beat out OSX in this kind of useability study. Not because of KDE being better than OSX, but because the 'past computer experience' was most likely not MacOS. And since KDE is much more windows like than OSX, who do you think would win?
you can't infer the direction of the vehicle from just the steering input angle, and seeing through a mountain is a neat trick anyway.
Of course not, there are many ways that they can approximate which direction the car is traveling. G-forces of a turn, tire traction, a compass...
In the future they could perhaps even have roadmaps downloaded into the car, so it would know where the curves in the road are before you do. And with gps they would know pretty much where you are relative to the mountain you are driving around.
Seeing through a mountain isn't what this is designed to do. If you are about to crash into a mountain, then that is where this system would be useful in my opinion.
You are forgetting that when you are turning a corner, you are turning the steering wheel. You would think that a system like this would know which direction your are travelling! If it didn't, it would be a pretty dumb idea.
he isn't saying that an icq user can message an aim one or vice versa. He is just saying you connect the same way. Unfortunatly the different protocals are still firewalled from eachother at this point in time.
I am in computer science at the University of Calgary, and everyone before the 4th years this new school year were taught pascal and java right from the start(sic). I wouldn't be too scared of what they can do in this course after this school year.
The DOJ and the FTC doesn't really matter as much as the fact that windows doesn't run on a PowerPC and MacOS doesn't run on a x86. Their monopoly of the PC market is still intact. The profit they make from the Mac version is just gravy.
That doesn't make much sense. If AMD based the athlon processors on the Alpha wouldn't it be 64 bit like the Alpha and not run intel code... like the Alpha? Or am I not seeing the point and you aren't talking about instruction set?
Apparently us linux advocates can't win. When linux was ugly and hard to use everyone is like, Oh it is so hard to use. Now when it looks good, everyone is like, oh it's too easy, I don't like it! What is that? Having ACTUALLY used lycoris in the past I found it much easier to use than windows. Now with their excellent configuration menu, and what looks like a click and run warehouse called irisit looks better than ever. Now we just have to get nubes to install this rather than Redhat(gag).
No it isn't

I believe that Canada ranks higher than the U.S. in probably every U.N. development report That I can remember.
I can honestly say every time I go to the United States I am always finding myself counting the days until I can come back to Canada.
Check this out if you want to know more about how Canada stacks up.
This is added intentionally so that Mozilla contains all of the features of Internet Explorer.
Oh yes, that's right! I went there.
The new episodes of Enterprise are just coming out!

They would if it wasn't easier to do in python.
If you were a fan of scorched earth then scorched3d shouldn't disapoint. link

System.out.println("You are owz3d!!1");
Thats a pretty funny joke! someone mod this guy up!

Awesome... now those junior high kids can do their math properly for a change.

Although this would make for an interesting test, I feel it would be hard to find 2 clueless users that are equally clueless.
Yah, but all those admins using their boxes remotely would have a slight problem with unplugging it from the network.

I don't care if it looks cool... but can it still burn rubber?
My mommy says that when all the evil monsters go away then we can have quicktime in linux.
So does this mean that I can download Company 'X' linux and if I had a problem Company 'Y' would be just as competent at solving it as Company 'X'?
That is what I want to see...
