    Mechanical fuel injection IS a nightmare. it's also not a good idea. Normal aspiration systems for cars works better, and can be tuned by anyone with a half a brain to work better than fuel injection.

    About 40-50% of the Technicians trained by the navy circa 1985-1989 via the AFTA(A1) program for rates AT/AQ/AW would probably fit the bill.

    I remember sitting behind the Straight Shooter, listening to an open air concert by Slynk Rand, guzzling Olympias until I could see the artesians

    Man, I would be SOOOOOO screwed.
    My old shadowrun and twilight:2000 sourcebooks alone would get me put under a jail.
    If they saw the stuff I used to play with as a kid (in the 70's) they would shit all over themselves.

    If your motherboard supports it, get one of the fans that comes on only when a certain bios-reported temperature threshold is passed (optionally, build it yourself).
    Then, install a 40 watt lightbulb (or 2) in the case; wire it so that the light bulb(s)is on when the fan is off.
    Disconnect any fans that pull air into the case, as opposed to out of the case.
    Make sure there are no holes large enough for critters to get in the case.
    Cover all the vent areas (except for power supply exhaust) with air filter sponge, cut to shape (check for buildup yearly).
    I've got a setup like this running in an unheated house, running a security system; has worked through at least 1 winter so far.
    The light bulbs keep everything toasty when the temperature drops, kill moisture, etc; I used a mini-tower and put one light about 4 inches below the drives, the other right next to the front air intake of the case.
    umm. putting a battery backup to the lights would be a good idea if you have occasional power failures.

    Then, mandrake for install.
    When or if you get tired of the limitations of Mandrake, graduate to Slackware.

    Hardware specific problem. Works fine with a Matrox M200 and a GeForce2, and I've set it up to work on a few other machines with random hardware.

    Duh.
    If you want to play games, run win2k; I can run ANY game in Win2K except for some of the weirder DOS-only games (privateer 1, Master of Magic, settlers 2) which I run in VirtualPC. or I can always dual boot.
    Doom3 runs fine out of the box.
    XP boots slightly faster. granted.
    It is NOT more stable. it isn't even close to being more stable.
    DOD Cert, the group that says whether the military users can use software on a military network, until October of last year noted that it was CRIMINAL to run XP in a secure location. Then it changed....because Microsoft GAVE the DOD 100,000(+/-) copies of XP pro.
    However, must administrators still refuse.
    Xp is to 2k what ME was to Win98SE.

    Ok, where is the +1 "Its really obvious but no one seems to get it" moderation when you need it?

    Win2k pro and WinXP Pro cost the same.
    Win2k Pro is stable, and with SP4, relatively secure.
    Win2k Pro DOES NOT have integrated DRM, and no "activation".
    Win2k Pro uses less system resources, does everything XP does better than XP does.
    The only thing it doesn't have is Intel Hyperthreading support. Big Whoop.

    Strangely enough, I've never seen anything of Macrovision; I'm certain it exists because everyone talks about, but none of the VCR's i've owned seem to have problems with it.
    Just lucky, I guess?
    I just tested it, recorded a couple of minutes of chronicle of riddick from DVD; clear picture.
    I, of course, Immediately destroyed the VHS tape so as to comply with our benevolent overlords at the MPAA.

    Don't like the ability of making recordings without worrying about DRM? That whole "if you can see it, you can record" it thing?
    This just means I need to look for a sale, so I can put a couple of boxed ones in the basement, to be carefully opened only after the current VCR is totally dead.
    Yes, I know that there are ways around DRM. but are they as simple?

    Win2k Pro SP4. XP is evil (and less stable).
