The funniest thing about this being a dupe is that the poster listed antoher slashdot article on the topic. This makes me wonder how they searched slashdot's history and found the past story but not the dupe?

You are right but it doesn't even matter if they can decide how many total there are. There are no orbitals with one free electron so it wont conduct.
You obviously dont understand electricity. Hydrogen has one electron in orbital 1s^1. Oxygen has 1s^2 2s^2 3p^4 electrons. So When they combine to make water there are no free electrons to make a electric circuit. Any tap water will contain impurities which DO contain free elctrons and will cause it to conduct. This is why bath water conducts. If you pour alcohol on a computer part (while it is off) and wait for it to evaporate it will be very clean. Then if oyu pour pure water on it it wont conduct. If you dont clean it right the dirt and metals will corrode and cause it to conduct. If anything with an electron in it conducted than nothing would be an insulator. Even air has a little bit of conductive proporties because of its impure nature. If you get a high enough voltage in a space enough space air will conduct too. Also there are no H+ ions in water. For The hydrogen to connect to the Oxygen it must have one electron. If your hydrogen atom has lost its (-) electron than its not part of a water molecule.
This is all very sad. What about hte computer illiterate? Take for example my mom, when she is prompted to do something she does it. If its going to get her post-card to work she will click yes. To someone who doesn't understand its jsut another box to clcik to get things to work and everything is fine. We cant put ANY of the blame on these people. This is like going to a gas station where the only exit leads to a 300 mile detour road where there is no turn off. You cant screw people into doing outragous things when they use your product just because "its too late to be caught now".

Yes i know that water doesn't conduct electricity. But most water cooling systems use water with addatives which cause them to conduct.
Well the problem is you CANT remove the watermark. Its like a pgp key. The watermark can only be removed by the intended recipient. Of course there is always a way but it should be fairly secure if you have a inique ID on a piece of hardware then only that hardware can remove the watermark.
Thats where the encryption comes in. The watermark can only be reversed on the correct machine. Think like pgp, only the person you want to can read the email you send. They plan to work this into hardware. They would probably give the hardware a unique key and have the picture creator encrypt so only that key can open it. This way if you say wany a secure presentation you can set it so only the one projector in the white house can read it without the watermark.
Actually i do read fast. But i have also read the article already. And i know a fair bit about the subject. And besides my first post to this article was joking around. I just felt i might as well throw it out there at the beggining. Then i waited to maybe share my knowledge but people like you jsut throw around uninformed comments.
They are refering to water marks. This is not about "encryption" or even "stenography". The problem is proving a document is original. Normally you put and ugly water mark on the image. With this techinque you can put the water mark in but you also put in data "securly encrypted of course" about how to get the water mark out.
Sheesh i feel dirty now that i have summed up the whole article because people post before they read it.
People have been doing this for some time. You simply print out the data. Take a photo of it. Scanthe photo. Send the photo. No distortion of the image with the data on it.
Well duh. Many large companies make HUGE amounts of money on selling paper. Hewlett-Packard makes somewhere near 80% of their profit of... you guessed it... paper and ink. They sell the printers at basically cost because they know your coming back for paper over couple of months.
Your pretyt much right in everything but that math. They dont make $10 profit off a pack of paper. And they wont sell them all. The reason the number is so high is that they want to be able to CLEARLY overshoot the amount the ever needed. The thing that makes business men lose so much sleep is when they have orders coming in but no more stock to sell. Its worth it to overshoot and they did.
Someone instant messaged me one day. They calimed to be the owner of that website. They were harrassing me so i did a WHOIS and look him up. I live in Seattle. He lives in Georgia. I called at about midnight. He was up and i could hear the tv on in the background. This just comfirmed what i guessed from reading his website. Hes a weird guy.
Americas army is kinda like it but it wont provide "training". It's one thing to think "ok shoot when im nto breathing but thats nto how it works. You dont fire at the same time in real life as you do in Americas army. Sniper training is even further away from reality. As someone who has played the game and fired similar guns in real life i know the two arent connected very much.
Too bad they replaced expensive UNIX computers with Linux ones. Same ole' same ole' around business these days. Hardly news worthy. Maybe in the Wall Street Journal but not a news for nerds/stuff that matters.
It all depends on how close you are to the speaker. If you have speakers putting out 125dB obviously they wont be next to your keybaord. Soemthing like that is used to fill a whole room or house of music. Great to setup on the porch for a party or something.
How was that a troll? Honestly it takes a long time to compile linux on an old box. Im not saying thats bad. You ever compiled windows? Ive seen it done and it WAY mroe painful.
This worked in China but wont in America. You failed to mention the Chinese govt. "my way or the high way" approach to laying this out. If you live where they want a tower built your gone and the tower goes up. True to communism its probably better for the greater good but it would never go over in America. Have you ever been to Asia? They all have cell phones, good/inexpensive ones too. Maybe our system is antiquated. We cant rely on battling companies to do all of this for us.
You could attatch some logic chips to this baybus. Use the serial port to output a signal. I know you cant find software to output your temp/status out the serial port. Then depending on the signal control the fans.

Doesn't anyone know? Water and computers dont mix. Make up yuour mind. You can either make fun of water-cooling OR make computers out of water.

Also ive heard this same thing a million times. These are not bash shell commands. Not all shells use "umount" to unmount a volume.

i've heard it all a million times and yes i have a good reason and no im not going to cahnge it nor am i going to waste time explaining it

And 2.4.19 is STILL compiling on my 50 mhz box...
