I agree - especially with the current problem of lots of people going for the same tech jobs a degree is almost essential. That is unless you can use nepitism or some other underhand way to get a foothold in a company. As to tech support it's generally low-paid and only used as a springboard to better IT jobs. After a while you get tired of being asked by people to help change their passwords!
I suggest you decide upon what you want then check out the online retailers to see which offers it cheapest. If you do need a lot of them you could qualify for a discount if you're buying in bulk. Remember to take into account tax and postage as a lot of sites advertise their prices without these - then add them at the end. Just out of curiousity what's your business going to be doing?
If you used a joystick, some foot pedals and took apart a keyboard from plenty of buttons - yes you could build your own but I've never seen someone try. Why not just find a real flight simulator instead of going to all that trouble?
"that burst into flames without warning" - they're not bursting into flames they're just overheating due to poor ventilation. At 75 degrees it cuts out anyway.

Also doing things this way will save on buying very expensive textbooks for each student which have to be replaced every year.
Oh and while I'm on the topic you can't get experienced in using an OS just by reading a textbook - you need to spend time getting to know how to do things with it.
I used to have a very good chemistry teacher who managed to teach us without textbooks for three years. He just made us write about three to four A4 sides of notes - so by the end of the year we had the equivalent of a textbook anyway! It also meant people actually learnt it rather than a textbook just getting dusty on a shelf.

I'd like to know when it's going to happen (or whether it has happened already). They've been talking about the change for years!
But on a more serious note I would've thought there are plenty of available programmmers in the US since the dot com crash. How about getting in touch with the programmers that used to work in your team and seeing if they're available?
I'm afraid someone who lists their hobbies as : Downloading music; posing for magazine covers; leveling entire industries may find job offers a little thin on the ground!
Will they be cutting the price in Europe and Japan even more too? After cutting the price already once a further cut may just end up making people think they're getting desperate though!
But on a more serious note - what's to stop you hiring more programmers on short-term contracts or freelancers instead of out-sourcing to a foreign country?
How big's the download - can you only use it with other Yahoo users? What about Yahoo Messenger/ MSN Messenger - they also offer VoIP for free. Or are you talking about a computer at one end ringing a telephone as opposed to just two computer users?
Yes but whatever the differences between languages are the choice of language depends upon what program you want to write.
And if we're really going to get technical isn't corporation spelt with three os? Or is this a difference in American/ British spelling?
I knew Verisign would get into trouble for this eventually. I think they deserve what's coming to them for such underhand tactics.
I think this'll be yet another Star Wars film I'll give a miss.

A career in politics must await me then!
In a shock announcement in reply to Sony's announcement Microsoft said they would be giving away a free X-Box with each copy of Windows.

Since when was deep linking illegal?
Can you get any more geeky than Star Wars in ASCII over telnet?
Have you actually read the book in question though? It sounds like you had a grudge against the writer before you even read the review.

Believe me you're not going to like basic training - nobody does - but at least it doesn't last that long.
"'Vovida Open Communications Applications Library' ('VOCAL')" - talk about the award for the most contrived acronym!
