Holy crap! Thanks for that. I knew that they were low-power, under the seat turbo diesels, but this is great. Cornering is probably about 0.5, but dick length is usually measured in the Indy Stoplight 500. This thing would always win and embarrass cars costing at least twice as much. Cool.
I think Jackie Stewart said that smoothness in driving was how he won races, and he was/is correct.
Pure brute force (0-60 times and 1/4 mile times or racing to the next stoplight) is a very poor indicator of driver skills. But that's what is important to people who want the "in your face!" type of temporary satisfaction.
How much trunk space does the average American need? Is it close to infinity?
Pulling a number out of my ass, I'd guess that 70% of driving Americans use an automobile daily just to get to work and pick up groceries on the way home.
Oops, sorry, I forgot that we're talking about *Americans* here. To the average stereotypical American, an automobile represents freedom, virility, toughness and social status.
The Smart Cars are pretty cool-looking and there are more and more of them on the roads in Montreal. Recently, I've seen many used as delivery/promotional vehicules, they tend to get a lot of attention from pedestrians and other drivers.
Mustang and Hemi Chrysler drivers just sneer at them, but they miss the point due to the "more/bigger is better" phenomenon evident in less-evolved humans.
Someone should offer an aftermarket turbo for these things (would never work because they are too tall and would tip over at high speeds, just like an SUV).
I tried using a laptop to take notes at one point. It just doesn't work. A notepad and paper are FAR superior to a laptop for taking notes. The computer is just a distraction. That's it.
I'd have to agree with that. Note-taking isn't "all about" copying verbal stuff to readable text, it's more about listening carefully, remembering and taking notes to help you remember later.
Computers in class and lectures are obviously a distraction.
The problem with thieves is that they have learned not to value long-term goals or to put weight on medium to long term consequences. As a result, their moral decision making is skewed towards what they can get away with right now, while simultaneously discounting the effects their actions might have on themselves and the people around them.
Why do you think the various religions were invented in the first place?
The Mythbusters program is just that: a TV show. Since both "stars" come from a movie special effects background, I wouldn't expect much in the way of real science.
Someone needs to stop overcompensating for lack of head hair and drop the upper lip ferret.
Probably Aldrin is a no-bullshit, in-your-face type that cannot come to terms with the current sanitized NASA.
I cannot honestly say that I disagree with him and that attitude.
Take a student into a "real" engineering environment (design phase in the office) and then bring him/her back into the field when it is being built or operating.
Of course, this concept won't work for software "engineers". Software designers never have to don hardhats and don't have to deal with those disgusting, dirty guys that build bridges and stuff.
Get a mechanical enginering degree and move on from there. That's what I'd have done if I wasn't so stupid and poor 25 years ago. Learn to love learning stuff other than ones and zeros before you start designing software. Programmers are a dime a dozen and pretty replaceable.
One theory is that the quality of manufacturing these days is so poor that "extended warranties" might not be such a stupid choice for major purchases. My ancient 15" no-name monitor lasted for 7 years or so. Both of my higher-end Mitsubishi CRTs ($500+ each) crapped out shortly after the 3 year warranty.
Thanks for the reply. I wasn't criticizing (sheesh, I had to actually look up the correct spelling for that word), just pointing out a great page. I've done my share of work in the design of cryo oxygen and nitrogen plants, so it's a bit of a pet subject of mine.

I actually agree with you, up to a point.

What's WRONG with people these days?
Sensationalistic "NEWS" cycles, jealousy, cynicism and schadenfreude. I think that about covers it.

You're missing the point: which is to make stupid people think that minds can be read remotely via technology.
Finally an opportunity to promote my website!

we are going to get rid of our need for foreign oil w/in 10 years
It's already happening - ever heard of Alberta? Most Amercans have no clue.
Mr. Scott, turn the engines to Godspeed.
WW2/Japan=nukes dropped and the Iwo Jima flag. Don't bother to tell me otherwise, you commie.

If you don't buy it thousands of marketers' kids will go hungry. Plus, you'll be helping to destroy the economy.

Ha! you though pipingdesign.com was all about industry? Ha!
Thanks for the advice, AC. I remember when I had my first beer, enjoy!
Cool! JavaScript widgets on the desktop!
Aren't these already available as an extra cost upgrade for Firefox?
