If they cease to tranmit an analog signal it will force everyone without a digital reciever or a tv capable of decoding digital signals to upgrade if they want to continue to watch tv. Currently the FCC mandates that broadcast channels be transmitted via analog but if they change that ruling then they certainly can require it.
I'm still hoping that the FCC drops the requirements that broadcast channels be analog so that we can actually start seeing a push for all digital channels. The channels I have that come in digital are about 2x as clear and the sound is a lot better as well.
All you need is a small polygon ship that shoots a small laser beam. This type of technology only costs 0.25 and even a 10 year old can run it, I don't know what NASA is worrying about.
I do believe that nobody has any clue about what I said. Microsoft is a huge company, their failure will devistate the already poor US market. They will not improve it very much by growing but they sure as hell can hurt it by going out of business. Sure competition is good and a competitive market would be great but right now protecting existing companies and ensuring that they don't falter like WorldCom and Enron is essential.
I know everyone hates Microsoft but they are a big corporation and they do have a major influence on the rest of the American economy. Right now, the US needs Microsoft.
He went about this wrong, he should have mentioned that he believed it was insecure and then with explict permission demonstrated why he believes this is the case. If I walked up to a cop and said "This pop machine is insecure" and proceeded to kick it and then drink the soda that fell out do you think the cop would be happy I showed him that?
I've always wondered about this, did we ever really land on the moon? Now I know we supposedly did, but its hard for me to believe that one trip was sufficient to discover everything that the moon has on it to explore. The other thing is that during this time it was a race against the Russians but moreover a race against Communism and what better way to show American superiority than to fabricate a lie saying we were the first to reach the moon? I've seen those pictures that show the flag waving like theres wind but it's not those that concern me, it's the fact that we never sent a second mission to the moon.
I love how you all suggest not to use IE. Well when you work in a big company and everything that gets installed on your computer needs authorization through a department thats literally 5 states away and takes over 3 months to get approved installing a different browser insn't a choice, get used to the fact that 95% of the US uses Microsoft. I suggested a standards change so that every browser no matter what you use will have this feature.
just what we all need, more websites with popup windows. Seriously though, I've been giving lots of thought to starting an online petition to get the Javascript standards group to remove those nasty popup windows or atleast have a mandotory option to disable it in each and every browser. (Sorry just turning off javascript isn't good enough for me)
I know everyone is saying this is a bad move for HP and it very well may be but I think I see what they are doing. If Dell intends to produce their own printers why would they continue to purchase HP priinters in the future when it obviously will end up being far cheaper for them to manufactor and package their own. HP is trying to cut them off before they can do this and hurt them in computer sales when they won't be able to package anymore HP printers while going on with this. One of two things will happen, either Dell will get suckered into a big fat increase on HP printers or they will have to go with another manufactor. Either way its not that bad for HP because they can focus on supplying other vendors, theirselves included or they will get some additional revenue while hurting Dell. Business as usual.
I can't help but think back to 3DfX and the glide library and think that this may be Nvidia's goal, it probably would be a great way for Nvidia optomized code to be developed if the compiler automatically did some special things for Nvidia cards even if it did output a product that works on almost all video cards (OpenGL).
It's kinda funny that it started out Linux as an alternative to Windows and what it has become is xxx Linux as an alternative to xyz linux. Distos competing against each other, instead of ultimately working together to continue to improve it. There needs to be some sort of linux management system to get things under control.
The RIAA has struck yet again, this time seizing every non-Apple computer at Case Western Reserve. When questioned why they did not confiscate any Apple computers the RIAA stated, " Well, lets put it this way, Steve's nickname around here is Hand"

Is that they eat up a large amount of the upstream, which when is being maxed by a large number of customers will begin to have a negative effect on the downstream for other customers. Beyond this, you are not allowed to run a server with their residential service so if your sharing your violating your contract.
I work at Charter and from what I hear support for wireless networks is in the works and will not be the free standard support currently available. Still I'm glad we are embracing wireless technlogies instead of hiding from them like some of our competitors.

To be honest no I don't copy anything on my TV or from DVDs. I don't have a Tivo and I don't have a VCR or a TV input card.

Christ we need to send up Bruce Willis to blow the hell out of that thing before he's 105.

Which is exactly the reason the US needs Microsoft to be sucessful and not collapse. Thanks for confirming my point.

God I hope not. Linux is great for servers and PC's but there are much better OS's (read QNX) for system critical missions.

I have it and it works great, but IE doesn't have this feature and I have to use IE at work.

Like 1200 geeks with 3rd degree sunburns and sunglasses to protect them from the glare of their monitor.
But I know plenty of people online who spend an awful lot of time indulging in grass, root and all.

is that all these companies are owned by Paul Allen and the article states that the main competitor will be Microsoft (which was co-founded by Allen).
