I work for Charter Communications and I know for a fact that we provide Pipeline cable internet in the U.P. I realize that some of the rural areas may be off the plant but with time most small towns will be connected to a headend that can deliver internet services. My hometown of Crandon, Wi (near the U.P.) was just hooked up from our Rhinelander headend, just give it some time.
Bash bash bash... Theoretically Microsoft could make it difficult for developers using OpenGL.
Theoretically I could take a gun and shoot 12 people but that doesn't mean thats what I'm going to do.
I hate to tell all of you slashdotters this, but if you sit in your room and play Everquest or Neverwinter Nights or Diablo II everyday for hours upon hours, you aren't developing a social disorder, you already have one. Go out and get drunk and have sex with some ugly girl, atleast it will be better than your hand.
While the bill indicates that this will effect the music industry is there any clause that allows other companies in the computer industry to continue their copy-protection?
I got there new show. When marketing strategies go bad.
Seriously though I doubt a handheld machine is neither a good sell or really something that India needs.
A Wisconsin dairy farmer allegedly has a chunk of swiss cheese said to be part of the Moon's outer crust although scientists are skeptical whether swiss cheese could withstand the heat from entry through the atmosphere.
Now honestly, do you really expect their technical support to have any idea whether or not they will be releasing the modified code? These are people who explain how to use the box, not the corporate strategys of the company. I'd be surprised if more than 3 of their PVR techs even know what Linux, outside something the DishPVR uses. I supervise people in a Cable modem call center and 2/3rds of the people I work with who fix peoples computers don't even know what Linux is.
I have experience programming for embeded systems but something that I've wanted to be getting into is designing embeded systems. Ideally what I want is a small hand size device that supports all common hookups, serial, usb, firewire, ethernet, etc. For me this would be unbelievably useful especially if it was combined with a moderatly size hd. If I could get a 5 gig hd, (ipod toshiba hd) packaged with all the connectors I'd be able to test about anything I could need at this time.
But GOOD! I'd much rather have the government spying on people and catching some people who are doing some warez shit than have someone who could of been caught blow up a bunch of people. If you're not doing things you shouldn't be, then you really don't have too much to worry about.
Personally, I wouldn't go this route when selecting a large storage format for a business unless it's know that only one person would be accessing this information all at once. I would expect the performance to horrid when multiple people try to access different information from the same DVD. I'd much rather use a large scsi raid array for storing this type of information.
I'm still waiting for programs that keep track of how often there ran, and then when the mouse cursor approaches them the OS is smart enough to begin loading that application based on the speed of the mouse cursor and location and the amount of time it ran, and the time frames that its ran in.
What kind of latency does this add up to? I mean thats really the weakest link when it comes to doing things that require fast response like online games. It's not neccesarily how much data that can get there in a specific time but how quickly you can get the data to a location.
but articles like this really do point out the weakest points of it. If your strong into multimedia (graphic design, sound mixing, 3D modeling, etc). You're still better off in most cases to be using a Win/Mac machine with a much more mature and complete software solutions. This isn't a knock against linux or other *nix's just points out what the weakest links are.
What if any, potential would anti-gravity have on human life. I know that constant lack of gravity is seriously harsh on a human body but what about people that have serious illness like respiratory problems where breathing is very difficult, or where broken bones need time to mend. Would exposing them to treatments in an anti-gravity field have any positive benefits? I'd like to see.

For attempts to compromise the security of the server while you are trying to find Easter eggs.
I've been waiting for about 12 years to see Yoda bitchslap E.T.

Seems to offset the actual value / use of having a system that runs 50 mhz faster.
Maniac Mansion for the NES.

I'm guessing a real idiot would have trouble drawing a connection between the article and what I said.

Maybe I can find an already built potato cannon for sale :)
for making older macs that don't run OS X useful :)

Grow John Bobbitt a replacement penis?
For finding the way back to the dorm after a long night of partying.

"...In many ways it sprang from slashdot." Because copying a story makes you responsible for the discovery of a theory that breaks modern physics.
duping stuff in Diablo2 and selling it on ebay.
