Why do you reboot to play counterstrike? I play half-life, tfc, and cs on winex without a hitch. You should try it if you have an Nvidia card. It works quite well on my humble laptop.
PGI Compiler does this. Its also good for optimizing floating point calculations. I run a beowulf cluster for my university and we make all of our users compile with the PGI compiler just cuz its better.

Sure, the RIAA and the MPAA didn't give a flying fuck about John and Bill making taped copies of the latest White Snake album back in the 80's. Sure, there were some bootleggers selling copies of tapes en mass back then too. But they were few and far between and John and Bill probably only made copies for a few friends. Now, we have people downloading songs that were downloaded from a person who dowloaded from someone else who might actually have owned the CDs. Now, I am not all that sympathetic towards the big industries seeing as the exploit their artists and keep most of the profits for themselves but c'mon people, this is an intelligent crowd, you can see where i'm coming from, right?
The way I see it is like so:
You can GPL your software, you can put your music under public domain, and you can give your literature out for free. Its your choice. But when someone decides to put a copyright on a piece of material, you should obey the law. It's only fair.

I don't even have my degree and lived in a small town for most of my career life, but have easily landed some pretty good jobs. You need to know where to look. Your best bet would have been to check out your University's career center and looked into a co-op/internship. It is the equivalent of putting your foot in the proverbial door of the IT world.
i've downloaded many versions of many distros from many different mirrors. Not once have I bothered to check the MD5's. Nor have I ever checked md5's for packages i have downloaded. Call me crazy, but I have never had a problem.

I totally agree. The changes coming to mozilla are of the same degree as the change from GTK 1.* to GTK 2.*. In this case, there was a major version number shift. I think it would only be fitting that the mozilla guys do the same. Plus, it looks better with a bigger version number, makes it seem more mature.

Ever been in a large scale natural disaster that requires martial law (I have)? Its pretty much the same thing. They set up rules that must be followed for A) the protection of the people and B) the protection of the troops who are A) bringing in food B) bringing in medical supplies C) trying to keep people from stealing shit from peoples homes D) enforcing what little law is still enforceable after the areas infrastructure has been incapacitated. The military saved our home and our lives with their style of law enforcement.
