The funny thing is that corporate profits are on both sides of this argument. There are many who stand to make billions off of cap-and-trade. You don't really think that all those people pushing so hard on the we're all doomed bandwagon are really altruistic do you? There are billions at stake here and lots of liars on both sides. I'm not all that fond of the shrill anti global warming people but I don't find the other side all that appealing either. Hatefulness doesn't make any argument more appealing.
I'm just amazed you can't see how your response looks. It reeks of arrogance. I agree that most people wouldn't be able to properly analyze the data. But there are some, maybe many, who can. When you spit on the "unwashed masses" don't be surprised when they spit back.
you used the term "good lawyer" that's like saying "honest politician" or "military intelligence." You shouldn't use phrases with words that directly contradict themselves.
yes...they were that bad. The only thing I liked at all from the first prequel was where obi-wan's mentor was killed in that fight scene near the end of the movie. That light saber fight was "almost" good enough to justify sitting through all the other shit.
I think this is as close to doing any space work as NASA will come in the future. No one wants to spend money on Space Exploration. Both parties talk about it but wont fund it. We're through in space, the private companies will do earth orbit and maybe Japan or China will go to Mars. The US will make video games.
Yes...openess will always allow dissent and that is not allowed. I believe that the earth is warming and also that man has contributed to the warming trend. Having said that I find the nutiness on the side of climate change to be as bad as that against. I find it strange that the "enlightened" believers in science can see the ridiculous behavior on the side of the deniers and ignore that same kind of behavior in their own camp. I've heard some of the most ridiculous claims by climate change advocates about how we're all going to be dead in a decade or two, how we'll see the oceans rise to cover almost all the land masses and other extreme nonsense. Yes the earth is warming, yes we should try to alter how we do things to reduce our contribution to the warming, No we don't have to destroy our entire way of life to do it. It's not the facts I reject, it's the extremism that says I have to give up my quality of life or we'll all die.
really you're absolutely correct. That's where the most demand will be. Better watch out for those 3D facial scenes. Imagine how ppl will be ducking away from the flying jizm coming at them in 3D.
There is too much distrust on both sides. MS has screwed over and back stabbed so many "partners" and viciously attacked Open Source for years. The Open Source community hates them and they know it. There's too much animosity to be bridged by these vague attempts at reaching out to the OSS community. It would take a massive turn around in policy....something like porting Office and Exchange to linux to actually make any real impression.
I like that idea. E-mail addresses really should be portable. It's ridiculous to have an address for a decade and have to change it just because the host wants to be a dick.
I drove like hell long before I bought my commdore 64. I've been playing driving games for almost 30 years now and my driving has greatly improved. I generally go at or near the speed limit and seldom run red lights anymore. I even come to a FULL stop at stop signs. It could be due to the video games or the steady fucking my insurance company gave me for all those tickets I got when I was younger. They made me pay for several accidents in advance which I never had....no refund though, they kept the money to bribe my state legislature with.
I mean it. I wish this miserable excuse for a company would just shrivel up and disappear. They're like a little yapping dog that just keeps yap, yap, yapping away incessantly until you want to swat it with a baseball bat.
I think having seen all 3 of these films that they are a true representation of the books. They weren't perfect, however, I believe they were as close to it as humanly possible. The fact that you despised them makes me doubt your nerd/geekiness. In fact I wonder why anyone who hated the LOTR films would even deign to visit slashdot.
How about a money back guarantee? I still remember going into the theater to watch the planet of the Apes remake. It didn't suck....it swallowed. I should sue the bastards for my time and money wasted for the 30 minutes I was there. If they gave a money back guarantee I'd have some pity for them. Truly I did not download Planet of the Apes though. It would have been a waste of bandwidth. If they'd spend more energy and ingenuity on making films instead of chasing file sharers they would be far better off. I have an extensive DVD library.....but only of movies I have already seen. I'm not going to spend 20 bucks on a DVD knowing there is a one in ten chance it'll be worth watching.
There is all kind of free software that is copyrighted but free and legal to download. There are many works of music that are copyrighted but free and legal to download. Copyright means you own the rights to a work.
Even free stuff is usually under some sort of copyright. Of course to people like the RIAA and MPAA there is no such thing as free content. I expect if you are using bit torrent then you are automatically considered guilty.
Price aside, the pirated versions of almost everything rock. I have hundreds of purchased DVD's and I've downloaded ripped 700mb divx compatible versions of damn near every one of them. It's so much more convenient that it's silly to break open the dvd case and get a dvd out. I simply stream the movie from the hard drive to the TV. I guess I could rip the DVD's but why? It's a pain and then I have to convert and compress them. So much easier just to visit piratebay and let it download while I'm sleeping. I still buy DVD's but it's more like I'm trying to encourage the studio to make more of that particular type of movie. I don't watch the damn DVD. Now though I only buy DVD's of movies I like and want to see again. No more shit.

In Reverse? Trees helping keep us alive? They should be trying to kill us.

damn....I like that. Too bad I'm out of mod points.

Now I can watch Judge Judy in HD...whoopee!

Yes...who is the current senator from Disney? We need to start keeping an eye on any legislation he proposes.

It seems some of Jobs hard headedness could be for a good reason.....maybe.
Quick, patent it.
Actually engineers should be asking this question in all products and systems. That helps prevent things going wrong.

I heard it was a two-headed love child.
The chair is against the door.....the chair is against the door.
