The funny thing is that corporate profits are on both sides of this argument. There are many who stand to make billions off of cap-and-trade. You don't really think that all those people pushing so hard on the we're all doomed bandwagon are really altruistic do you? There are billions at stake here and lots of liars on both sides. I'm not all that fond of the shrill anti global warming people but I don't find the other side all that appealing either. Hatefulness doesn't make any argument more appealing.

We're through in space, the private companies will do earth orbit and maybe Japan or China will go to Mars. The US will make video games.

Yes...openess will always allow dissent and that is not allowed. I believe that the earth is warming and also that man has contributed to the warming trend. Having said that I find the nutiness on the side of climate change to be as bad as that against. I find it strange that the "enlightened" believers in science can see the ridiculous behavior on the side of the deniers and ignore that same kind of behavior in their own camp. I've heard some of the most ridiculous claims by climate change advocates about how we're all going to be dead in a decade or two, how we'll see the oceans rise to cover almost all the land masses and other extreme nonsense. Yes the earth is warming, yes we should try to alter how we do things to reduce our contribution to the warming, No we don't have to destroy our entire way of life to do it. It's not the facts I reject, it's the extremism that says I have to give up my quality of life or we'll all die.

There is too much distrust on both sides. MS has screwed over and back stabbed so many "partners" and viciously attacked Open Source for years. The Open Source community hates them and they know it. There's too much animosity to be bridged by these vague attempts at reaching out to the OSS community. It would take a massive turn around in policy....something like porting Office and Exchange to linux to actually make any real impression.

It could be due to the video games or the steady fucking my insurance company gave me for all those tickets I got when I was younger. I should sue the bastards for my time and money wasted for the 30 minutes I was there. If they gave a money back guarantee I'd have some pity for them. Truly I did not download Planet of the Apes though. It would have been a waste of bandwidth. If they'd spend more energy and ingenuity on making films instead of chasing file sharers they would be far better off. I have an extensive DVD library.....but only of movies I have already seen. I'm not going to spend 20 bucks on a DVD knowing there is a one in ten chance it'll be worth watching.

It's a pain and then I have to convert and compress them. So much easier just to visit piratebay and let it download while I'm sleeping. I still buy DVD's but it's more like I'm trying to encourage the studio to make more of that particular type of movie. I don't watch the damn DVD.
