For a biped...why couldn't they employ technology like in Segway. Use the gyroscopes to autobalance the unit but instead of rotating wheels just have muscle like control over a foot where the whole body is pulled forward (Tibialis anterior) or back (Gastrocnemius) by the stable foot against the ground.

Any problems with this idea? You would need some side to side stabilization too. For Standing still you would use both feet to stabilize but when walking you would have to only use one (pick up and lean the unit forward).

Well, as sorry I am that you had a bad experience as a Biology major, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got my undergraduate degree in Biology from Hillsdale College in Michigan and minored in Chemistry. If you don't enjoy your major, change it. Seems pretty simple to me.

And the fact that there is a large number of people in Biology classes I would hypothesize is related to the number of people who try to get into Medical School. And veternary school and graduate school in biomedical sciences which is a huge and growing field. Whereas I don't think CS majors have that many options.

I am currently getting a PhD in Pharmacology/Biochemistry but just wanted to offer a counter opinion as someone who LOVED Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry and Cell Biology and Developmental Biology. Biology and Chemistry are absolutely fascinating. If you don't enjoy them, don't major in them...just like if you don't enjoy CS....don't major in it. I think that's a better message to send then "I highly discourage anyone from majoring in Bio".

I assume you didn't get a teaching certificate or take any business classes where you could have easily done hospital finances. Or did you look at Government jobs as an inspector of the numerous things the government regulates. Or look to OSHA or some college/company similar organization for training on safety issues. All can be based on a biology degree. Just a couple counter thoughts from a person who loves biomedical science!

And it hasn't plagued the human race and killed us all? Or, God forbid, "go wild". This happens to bacteria all the time. This is why bacteria are able to become resistant to antibiotics.

And could you please elaborate on how animal organ transplants would introduce new human pathogens?

Sorry, I should've explained further. G is short for Guanine, A for Adenosine, T for Thymine, and C for Cytosine. When you write out genetic sequences you use the abbreviations. GATTACA is an example of a hypothetical DNA sequence. It was a play on words. So, you'd know there is no 'i' at all in GATTACA because there's no nucleotide abbreviated with 'i'. :)

While your point is well and good, I think you should at least look at the article. They're talking about a NEW STANDARD. USB on-the-go is not USB 1.0 which your Nikon 775 is and your printer and is included on most computers. So, what the poster was saying is Firewire is OUT and on some computers and is proven. Why make a NEW standard to do what Firewire does and has done. I think you missed the point, just 'cause it's still called USB doesn't mean your 775 is going to be able to print directly on your current printer. Either way, you'll need new stuff.
