Not sure what you mean by "wholesome" image. Apple has been "counter-culture" forever. Their mascot is that guy from Jeepers Creepers and all the bad comedies with lots of vulgar language and sexual content.
Knowing HuffPo the whistler blowers will just be made up. Seriously, I don't understand how people can condemn big oil companies when they finance energy research and in the same breathe condone extreme partisan journalists who claim to finance "investigative journalism."
If anyone thinks for a second that the investigations will be honest and non-partisan they are fooling themselves. HuffPo is one of the most biased "media" outlets around. It's like saying HotAir (http://hotair.com/) could be trusted to finance and post "investigative" reports.
HuffPo is an extreme left-wing wannabe news outlet. By investigate, what they really mean is "smear machine."
They did a bang-up job investigating when they posted the John Gibson remarks which were obviously fake and it only took them the better part of a week to retract, grudgingly so.
If HuffPo is what passes for investigative reporting then it's truly the end of journalism as we know it.
People don't compare like hardware because Apple doesn't offer anything within their price range. They STILL after over 12 years DO NOT HAVE A HEADLESS MID RANGE MAC.
You have no idea how many sales Apple loses for this very reason. So you either toss away a perfectly good monitor and get an iMac or you pay a ton of money for a PowerMac.
Apple is really screwing themselves. Virtually every single person I know who I've tried to convert to a Mac has refused because they don't want the expensive crap Apple is selling.
I was favored? Looks like I got 0 flamebait thanks to childish people such as yourself who look at a UID instead of content. Keep patting yourself on the back though, do it long enough and you may start to really believe you're popular on the internet and people like you.
My post didn't express any bias other than to ask for evidence. I'm not going to take a random low-level analyst who was fired and went to Olberman of all people at his word.
I'm well aware it's plausible, what I am not aware of is when we started screaming the government was guilty until proven innocent. That type of nonsense I expect from high school kids too lazy to actually discuss or investigate, resulting in finger pointing and name calling.
"Either way learning happens, and that's a good thing right?"
Learning doesn't happen because it's all classified for one. Additionally, learning doesn't happen because it's mostly subjective to begin with, but add to that the obvious biases (Olberman is biased as it is but then take into account this whistleblower was FIRED and is obviously disgruntled about it) and you have nothing but a cesspool of name calling, propaganda and political positioning.
There is nothing to be learned here, just people to blame.
Disgruntled ex-employee makes accusations with zero evidence. News at 11 I guess.
This guy was just an analyst, not some super high ranking official. The type of data he was privy too was low level and generic. He could say they were monitoring space aliens in Manhattan too and would be correct.
Some people just want to believe this stuff so much they'll grasp at any old straw that agrees with their narrow view of the government.
You sir are exactly what is wrong with medicine. You keep medical opinions in the realm of medicine. You don't add to internet rumor mongering with armchair medical differentials that you know full well you pulled out of your ass.
You don't have the slightest clue what is going on with Jobs. All the information you have you got from media sources and from that you try to "enlighten" us with your bullshit.
"Doctors" like you, and I use that name loosely, make me sick. If you spent half as much time practicing medicine as you did bullshitting people with half assed opinions based on completely suspect information we'd all be better for it. Learn to shut your fucking mouth once in a while.
If you really are a physician then shame on you. Trying to give a differential based on a media report is pathetic.
That's just bad practice and horribly unprofessional. I can excuse the nerds here who don't know what they are talking about, but you sir just scraped the bottom of the barrel. You should know better.
I went to a college that catered heavily to people with disabilities, primarily the deaf but also a large number of the blind. It occurred to me early on that a great deal of the tech they use is developed by people without disabilities and then tested on people with them.
I think Mr. Raman is pretty unique in the sense he's able to develop like this as a blind man. That said, I'm curious why voice recognition wasn't considered the better option?
I tried that approach and had it backfire. Getting snarky on the job ruins your credibility, especially when dealing with inter-department stuff. They can just as easily come to your boss and then the entire mess is on you. It's truly best to walk away and take it up with their immediate supervisor, that is what the supervisor is for. Let them deal with it, it's why they make more money than you do.
I used to get frustrated a lot. That was before I grew up and realized not everyone follows the same life path I do.
Dumb questions do exist. I laugh when people say "there are no dumb questions" and I laugh even harder when people say "the only dumb question is the one not asked." In all honesty, both are wrong but I have learned that the only dumb question is the one asked repeatedly. If I have to explain something to someone twice, i figure "ok they just forgot, happens to me too." But if I have to tell someone, or explain something to someone over and over and over, then it's a dumb question asked by a dumb person. However, with that said, feeling frustrated doesn't help. Just walk away, don't help them, don't explain. Tell them to figure it out and stop wasting your time. If this is on the job, tell their manager and get them replaced for incompetence.
It isn't worth getting frustrated and angry. Your emotions are your responsibility. A wise man once told me, "10% of life is what happens to you, the other 90% is how you deal with it."
They promised cross platform versions of Chrome. If it isn't coming out fast enough for you then use something else. I don't get this whole "me me me" entitlement thing I keep seeing. Google could skip the Linux and Mac versions entirely if they wanted to. They don't owe you a fucking thing. Get over it and wait till it comes out, or just shut the fuck up and use something else.
"Google is becoming a company that we should all be worried about"
Why? If you don't like them, don't use them. No one is forcing you to. Why in the world would you worry about them? Worry about the economy, about elected officials, don't ever worry about something as stupid as a search engine when you can just.... not visit.
People over use the word spam these days. All the new PM did was try to rally his people to a cause. It was in bad taste perhaps but seeing as how Thailand doesn't have the type of emergency broadcast system we have here in the USA I'd think this isn't totally uncalled for.
If he had made this a habit and over used it then I would call it spam, but this looks like a one time deal during a genuine state of emergency. I wouldn't call that spam personally.
Viruses aren't easy to engineer, most (like 99.999%) would never survive the process. The viruses we see today evolved over thousands and millions of years to survive our environment. If you think any old scientist can create something better than mother nature did in their garage then you need to take some science classes.
That "super plant" is still subject to natural selection and would have to be selected for. Regardless, genetic engineering is not easy and doing so in your garage will only get you so far. Bacteria etc is doable, any multi-cell organisms will be quite difficult.
Doing what these people are doing in their garages is no different from what nature does itself every day. If pollen went astray, it would still need to be selected for in some way. Even the genetically engineered crops we use today are "forced" to grow under special circumstances, most wouldn't survive without a crapload of human intervention.
I'd kill for a good ole hack and slash. Presently waiting in Diablo 3. It seems like the genre died after the Diablo/Baldurs Gate days with pretty much nothing being released since then worth a damn. I really wish someone would develop something decent (someone other than just Blizzard).
RPG's though are evolving into MMO's. They'd rather get a monthly fee from you than make a classic hack and slash. This is probably why almost every MMO released since WoW has been utter trash.
I tried KDE 4.0 when it came out. I found it lacking but viewed it as a nice start. I had to uninstall it though as for some reason it was screwing with my wireless network setup, suddenly network-manager couldn't connect. I waited and installed KDE 4.1 beta 2 and found it to be more feature complete but also much more buggy. Things would just crash for no reason, simple things like moving files wouldn't work. It was Alpha, not Beta, regardless of what title they gave it.
The KDE team made the same mistake that the Warhammer online team is making (article from yesterday about releasing with a large amount of content missing). KDE 4 has flopped hard because first impressions are everything.
I went back to gnome because, while somewhat limited in functionality (unless you know what to tweak), it's stable as a damn rock, does everything I need it too, and with GTK themes and Compiz it looks nice while maintaining a reasonable speed.
My whole problem with the KDE team is they just seem to be so arrogant. It's like they are hoping we wont notice they screwed up and if we do we're talked down to and told we're wrong. THEY gave it 4.0 status, NOT us.
Because THQ has the rights to 40k. They have the Dawn of War RTS series which they announced would become a 40k MMO at some point. It's still years away however.
Will it run in Wine? Age of Conan has taken every step possible to ensure it wont run in Wine. WoW runs great in Wine which keeps me playing it. If Warhammer plays nicely with Wine I'm sold, regardless of imbalances and bugs. God knows WoW has had more imbalances and bugs than any game in history, I sincerely doubt Warhammer could be any worse.

Both of which are doable on IE7. The only differences are 1) The renderer and 2) You're refusal to look into it.

Why would there be? It's not like they're creating super warriors in their garages.
All the hysteria over genetic engineering is ridiculous. Quit trying to regulate everything.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes a lot of sense.
