"I agree. When you're thrown in jail for being convicted of a crime, they don't let you go just because you're put in for an appeal. They throw your ass in jail and you can wait there."
Martha Stewart is out pending her appeal. So yes it happens, in fact it happens quite often especially in cases involving nonviolent crimes, white collar crimes etc.
You can get a gmail account on ebay for 30 cents, I don't see why anyone would give you an MP3 player. Just contribute to the community man, spread the love. I'd love to have an invite but I won't pay for an account that will one day be free. If you feel generous, send one to me at todd AT iamblue dot net. It would be very gracious of you.
Um no. The moral of the story is do not kick a dead horse. Email as it is needs a fundemental change. I mean, come on, clear text passwords over a network? You can sniff out 99.9% of all email traffic on the internet easily. Nevermind how easy it is to spam and exploit the vast majority of systems out there. Yes I know email can now be encrypted, blah blah blah, almost no one on the net knows what that means let alone knows how to use it.
I personally do not want my tax money being spent kicking a dead horse. They would spend millions on a system that's unmanagable at best when they could instead spend that money on developing a better email system.
The moral of the story perhaps, is fiscal responsibility. While not kicking a dead horse and picking their battles wisely they will save us tax payers a fair amount of money. This is probably the best news I've heard all week.

Is that supposed to be a joke? Come on, what a cop out. I'm all for people reforming, but why does this sound so phoney? I give it 6 months before he's back at it again, probably based out of China or Russia.
Your statement is so true. spymac.com offers 1G also but the interface sucks and the bugs/downtime are atrocious. The 1G is of zero use to me as a result. I actually got better service from them when it was 10megs.
When will companies learn that people want choices? The only reason iTunes is working out for Apple is because they put it on windows too.
I love STARZ and watch for the saturday night movies all the time. I might have subscribed had they supported the mac, I mean we have real player, why not just support it? Stupid move Real.
I'll just ignore you I think since you wrote two paragraphs and then in the third completely negated your entire statement. Typical quality of slashdot posts these days.....
What's your definition of use? You are assuming most mac users care about the BSD subsystem. Most do not, never will. I've been using UNIX for 12 years and OSX has basically replaced my need for 99% of the command line garbage I used to think was cool. I had no idea how unproductive I was under linux and freebsd until I started USING my mac rather than playing with it. No wonder IT is so down when the vast majority of IT people just don't get it. The point is productivity, not nifty little gadgets that 99.9999% of the world could care less about. Employers are sick of the waste in IT and your post is a prime example of it.
Uh, right click or control click on the file and select "Get Info" you can there change what app to open with, you can even change it for all apps of that file type. You don't need resedit, just some OS literacy.
Just because they can already do it, doesn't mean we should make it even easier for them. Sorry but this is why we have the second amendment. Before long we'll need our well armed militias to defend us from our own police state. It's no mystery why one of the first things Hitler did was institute gun control. After that he started slapping numbers on jews hands to "more easily identify the criminals". Then we just need national ID cards (stars on our chests) and the stage is set once again.
Fingerprints are also taken to identify you IN the prison system. In case of riot they need to know who is who. I visited one a long time ago and had mine taken "in case of hostage scenario" so they could make sure that after releasing me, I was who I said I was. Fingerprints on arrest are as much for your protection as they are for control measures. DNA doesn't serve this purpose so they truly are different animals altogether.
Not every felon. Every felony arrest. So now to get your DNA they can make up a charge, grab your DNA, release you/drop charges and store you away in a little database ala big brother.
It appears after your 2004 arrest (without conviction) that your DNA profile has come up in a new and ongoing criminal case. As a result, you are now a "person of interest" and subsequently unable to apply for security clearance of any level. We have also taken the liberty of informing your employer who btw formally requests you do not return to work tomorrow. We will release your friends and family members from questioning shortly.

Gee, no potential for abuse here. All that's required is the "label" or appearance of guilt and your life is ruined. This is exactly why privacy is so important.
For instance it's no break through that dogs understand commands, seeing eye dogs have been doing this for decades, but does the language used make a difference? For instance I assume these dogs were trained in German, would French, Spanish or something like Arabic work better? Can a "dog langauge" be made that works better for them, perhaps allowing a 400 word vocab or more?
Last I heard the average human had a vocab of around 2500 words or less. Raising an animals higher could lead to full fledged conversations rather than just an instructional command oriented relationship.
"he is stomping on the freedoms he's fighting for"
Sorry but no. It's more like "Fuck with the bull and get the horns". Soldiers aren't lawyers, they don't give two shits about the guys screaming about rights. They do as they are told. They work hard and play harder, that's the reality. Go to a soldier bar and start talking that shit and they WILL kill you. It's what they are trained to do. Right or wrong, that's the way it is. Soldiers aren't supposed to stop and think "Oh wait, I'm supposed to be protecting what he says". That's what politicians do, then when the time comes politicians release the hounds. This is exactly why the military doesn't run the government.
Don't give soldiers a hard time about this. It's that mentality that makes them good at what they do. Now if you want to talk about officers, things change a little bit as they must also be, to a limited degree, politicians.
That looks like a winner but for 2 things. It doesn't cover my area explicitly (it may but chances are it's flakey) and 2 the only phone I like that they have has MTV content all over it. To gimmiky for me. Thanks for the link tho, I'm gonna keep checking them to see if coverage improves and they add new phones.
I grew up in the silicon valley. What part are you talking about? The valley? One of the mountains? Behind one where the cell towers can't reach? That's a huge place with wierd terrain to say the least. Nevermind all the extreme local government restrictions on tower placement. Why are you special? What makes the silicon valley seperate from anywhere else? Get a clue, living in the silicon valley doesn't entitle you to a damn thing. Get over it.
Most problems appear to be people with unreasonable ideas of what coverage is "OMG I"M STUCK ON THIS MOUNTAIN AND MY CELL PHONE DOESN'T WORK". The U.S.A. is a HUGE place with extremely varying geographical coverage. It's just not possible to be perfect here. Japan doesn't have this problem, most countries don't. I live in the middle of the desert and all I hear from some people here is that their cell coverage sucks. Well duh, when the company has 10 customers it just doesn't pay to fully cover the area.
On the other hand, the contracts are bullshit. I will never EVER sign a contract. If 10 years from now all there is for phone service is cell and it's done by 3 companies and you're forced to sign a contract then I'm sorry, I won't own or use a phone ever again. Contracts are for buying houses, renting cars, financial agreements etc etc. Not for phone service. It makes as much sense to me as signing a contract at a restaurant to return 4 times a week when all you want is the ocassional hamburger. I had a cell as part of my job a few years ago and I used it at most, twice a day and that was just a quick 1 minute convo with the boss. Yet he was paying upwards of 160$ a month for that phone (top of the line service contract). It just doesn't make sense to me. A girl I work with has a cell and pays 50$ a month for it, not counting the over charges (she showed me an $800 bill once). That's just nuts to me. Maybe I'm cheap but I just don't have unlimited funds, nor do I feel secure enough under the current economic climate to contract out a 50$ payment each month for 2 years with no recourse should I need to cancel. Hell my bank gives me ways out of my loans if I need it, even refinancing should times get real hard. I can also negotiate settlements with them if I need to file bankruptcy. None of that is possible with the cell phone gustapos "FUCK YOU PAY ME" attitude. All in all, why sign up? Other than to fit in with the cool crowd and have equally obnoxious cell phone jangles. I don't see the value and "cool gadget, must have" feelings aside, I just can't make myself buy one again.

Just patent sanctions in the EU. No more pesky anti-trust problems.

When you get more, as everyone seems to be getting like 10 a week now, could you send one to todd AT iamblue dot net?? I'd be indebted to you.

Yes, sorry to not be more specific. I got that number from http://www.pimsleurapproach.com/learn-german.asp while trying to learn German.
Interesting. I'm trying to learn german right now. Do you live in Germany? If so want a pen pal?
I should have been more specific, 2500 often used vocabulary. I read it when researching Pimsleur:g erman.asp

I'm trying to learn German so thats what I linked to.

Back to your cave troll. There is a reason you don't get a karma modifier, and this post is it. Now go sniff mommies panties and pop some more zits.
What are you talking about? It compiles fine on everything I've tried. It even compiled on OSX Panther.
