I totaly disagree with #1. Linux caters to server folks, i.e. businesses. Linux is possible the least userfriendly OS on the planet right now, it's impossible to claim it caters to people.
The only inroads Linux has made into MS's market share are in the server market, thats fact.
Especially the iPod since it literally has no moving parts that can't be water proofed. If you want to jog in the rain you have to do it without music.
No one is really trying to make these devices replace their counterparts. I mean, costs aren't coming down, features aren't getting better, usability is still in the toilet and real life features are being neglected.
Water proof devices should be the norm. I mean does anyone even own a wrist watch that isn't? We learned a long time ago that people fall into puddles. Passing cars splash us. Tsunamis hit without warning, etc etc. Shit happens, and if it happens while using your 500$ mp3 player it's magnified by several orders of magnitude.
I know the people designing these things probably have no lives, but the users sure do.

The only difference i'm aware of is the MusicMatch software that comes with the win version.
I see no reason why you cant use a win ipod on a mac.
I loved the shield. That show was awesome, can't wait for the next season.
There is barely anything on TV worth watching anymore, which is exactly why HBO is kicking so much ass with shows like The Sopranos, OZ, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City etc...
I hardly watch anything other than USA anymore, and thats only for the good reruns they play.
Dark Angel was awesome. The only reason it didnt perform is because ITS FRIDAY NIGHT!!!!
What does FOX not understand about that? People have lives. You dont put your best shows on a night when no one is going to watch, especially when it's targeted at the younger demographic who will be out partying friday nights.
First off, country music in a sci-fi show really doesn't work. The score isn't bad, just out of place and horribly so.
The acting is horrible. I still can't make out a plot, and the character development so far is non-existent.
I can vaguely guess the captain was in some war years ago. Its not clear if he was agood guy or bad.
I get the feeling watching it, that it's Young Guns with spaceships. They're using revolvers for crying out loud. I mean 500 years from now revolvers wont even exist, they barely do now.
This is the first and last episode I'll be watching. John Doe which airs afterwards looks a lot better than this.
I'm heart broken Dark Angel was cancelled for this horrible mess.
Ya'll seem to like it's look and feel a whole lot. Are we to assume no one has an original idea in the OSS community? Every desktop is a knock-off of another. How many times will OSS reinvent the wheel?
People are supposed to take this stuff seriously? Come on
I would hate to see it, but i know something will crop up. I mean in book one Rowling spent almost a full page explaining how much they look alike. In book two she did it again at the end when he meets Tom Riddle.
There has to be something to that. I know the transferance part, that was explained in book two in regards to the parseltounge thing. I just get the feeling there was a lot left out. Every book brings up something we didnt know about his past.
I believe that's coming in book 5. The first books are leading to something wierd. Harry has a duplicate wand to Voldemorts, both from the same Pheonix. They can both speak parseltounge, they look alike. I could go on and on. Considering Voldemort is adopted and Harry is an Orphan, i think there are some real posibilities they are related somewhow.
The previous poster was a shallow person. You need to have some depth to appreciate HP, as a child or adult. I'm 25 and love the books, I read them all in less than a week. No small feat.
You will never convince this guy to like it, so don't bother. He's hooked on the Godzilla movies and imported Jet Li/Jackie Chan flicks.
I couldn't put them down. I read the final book, all 734 pages in one day. That's how good the writing is.
The second book is probably my favorite which is why I am both excited about the movie and dreading it. I don't think they can do it justice. I already noticed in the trailer several glaring missteps and innacuracies.
I don't think there should be a 3rd movie. The actors, especially the kid who plays Ron, already look to old for the parts. They are supposed to be 12 years old in the movie but look closer to 14-15. By the next movie they will be 13 on film and 17-18 in real life. I couldn't stand to watch if they got replaced. The kids who play Ron and Hermione have done an incredible job. Considering the kid who plays Ron has never acted before in his life, I'd say he's got a bright future ahead of him.
I love the app, don't get me wrong, but it's still beta quality. The UI is horribly slow, everything from resizing the window to unchecking the calendars. I've had UI elemtents dissappear on me. It wont import from apples addressbook (this is supposed to be a system wide database, apple isn't using it, why would anyone else?). It doesn't import entourage holidays, but it does import the other info. Why would that be? Seems overly selective.
The subscribe feature is still not user friendly. The average Joe is supposed to know to use webcal:// before each address? I didn't know you could subscribe to holidays, i had to find that in a maccentral forum post. This should have been an option in the drop down menu.
They rushed this out the door. I just hope 2.0 isn't far off. In the meantime I'll use it unless I find something better.
If you have no OS9 install previous or newly done, from an OS9 CD classic does not work. I don't know what crack you are smoking that makes you think there is a "hidden" OS9 install in Jaguar but you need to put the pipe down because it doesn't exist. Classic is a wrapper, an emulation program, not a freakin OS. Get over it and quit spreading missinformation.
I just went all through both install CD's and no where is OS9 to be found. You are confusing the classic environment and OS9, they are seperate things.
Steve Jobs even said in his keynote you would need to buy OS9 if you wanted to run it in classic with OSX.2
It really isnt used more now than it was before. Before 9/11/01 there was news everyday about terrorism in South America, Israel etc....
It's just noticed now rather than ignored. It's been taken to our doorstep rather than viewed at a distance. Now you know how people in other countries feel 24/7 only for them it's probably magnified by several orders of magnitude.
"Anyways, the one redeeming quality were the girls. I paid 100 yuan (about $12 US) for a great fuck, with a 16 year old who seemed quite new and "unblemished" if you get my drift. Boy, was she tight, made all the right noises, sucked and fucked all night long and let me cum all over her. Much better than even the vaunted Thai whores, and worlds apart from anything in Las Vegas or in Europe. Best bargain I have EVER found in my life!"

You say all this like you're proud. It's disgusting that 1) you would use a prostitute and 2) an under age one who's been through enough in her life and doesn't need you degrading her more.
The agreement we have with Taiwan doesn't state we will go to war with them, just that we will supply them with the military equipment (supposing they can pay for it) they will need to fight the war themselves.
We are under no obligation to go to war with China should they take action against Taiwan. Taiwan is quite capable of defending themselves. In fact Taiwan has a larger military than most super powers for this very reason. If you make the argument that China is larger with a superior military force, I will simply remind you of Vietnam and our failed attempts there.
In the last 100 years no country has successfully invaded another. The world just doesn't take to kindly to that. There is a few possible exceptions (china and tibet), but putting them in context will still lead you to the same conclusion. The country on defense has a significantly high advantage. This advantage is why we didn't finish Saddam Hussein in the 90's.
I however like the idea of levels because it helps gauge character development. How do you know you're doing well unless you have some sort of measuring stick.
I remember years ago, you didn't have to worry much about whether a game would run on your system. Devs are pushing the envelope so far that it's out of reach for 90% of all consumers, Mac and PC alike.
Most people regardless of their platform still use PC's with 500mhz processors or slower. However the specs for games such Doom3 are outrageous.
Devs used to care about a good storyline, exciting game play etc. Now it's all about who gets the best framerates, what game has the prettiest textures. I don't care what the game looks like anymore, thats all window dressing. I want a game that's FUN.
I happen to be a mac user and I can attest that when/if a game is ported to the Mac from the PC, it's usually a great game. You see far less junk on the Mac. The downside is we usually see the games a year or 2 later.
I play WC3 and AvP, other than that I stick with the console where I'm not locked into an "upgrade path" every six months. I don't care what the latest and greatest is. I want value out of what I own NOW.
You don't lunch things into space without letting the super powers know, and getting their approval. Remember the Reagan era Star Wars? How do we know they aren't sending nukes up there?
It's a matter of international security that you don't allow just anyone to lunch rockets and orbit things over your head.
http://www.clambake.org/
Operation Clam Bake. Wanna know an interestin fact? Scientologists believe we evolved from clams. Hence the name of the site "Clam Bake".
This guy has balls taking on this cult. I'm surprised they have put a hit on him. I mean Travolta was a bad mofo in Pulp Fiction.

the ipod is the only mp3 player i have seen that made me go wow. everything else is a joke.
why is it no one has caught with apple yet? the ipod is great but there is room for improvement.
its like no one wishes to actually compete. they arent even copying apple like they usually do. they just aren't doing ANYTHING

They cancelled Dark Angel for this?

They aren't flying, they're changing and yes they were in the book. Read it again.

Not limited to "hard guys". Put a groupd of geeks in the room and see how long it takes before they argue over vi and emacs.
