    My friend and I had a theory that the politicians were waiting until we had 5 states to come in to the union at the same time

    The politicians in office don't want any more states. More states equals more competition for them in Washington. 5 more states equals 10 more senators, and god knows how many more representatives. If anything, they'd want to consolidate a few states. (i.e. Montana + Wyoming + Idaho). Power is only worth anything when it's exclusive.

    ell will still be a third-party reseller of other MP3 players like the Creative Zen, but has left the Windows-based player market to the four big players -- SanDisk, Samsung, Sony, and Creative. Of course they bailed on the market. Microsoft is about to enter it and drop a shitload of cash in an attempt to gain marketshare, just like they did with xbox. The most likely scenario is that they're going to initially cannibalize non-ipod sales.

    I can agree with that. I've seen users type "yahoo.com" into the search bar in firefox... which goes to the google search results page, where they then click on the "Yahoo!" link. It's almost as if users are conditioned to use "search" as their first action, regardless of whether they can remember the domain or not.

    Er... no. A burglar is tried because there's enough evidence that they may have broken the law. I'd like to think that 'innocent until proven guilty' still applies in this country.
