  1. Re:No background tasks? on iPhone's Development Limitations Could Hurt It In the Long Run · · Score: 1

From what I can tell, there's no background task restriction in the OS X on the iPhone. It's just that 3rd-party apps created with the official SDK can't run in the background. Apps created with the unofficial development toolchain that are run on jailbroken iPhones/iPod Touches can run in the background though - like your Apollo AIM client.

I don't know if this is intelligent enough for you, but I suspect one doesn't willingly choose to use a beta version of software and expect it to be stable. If you're after stability, there's a whole lot choices out there, and a beta release probably ain't one of them.

What does loving your wife have to do with having a mistress? That almost implies some sort of relationship between love and sex. I love my wife with all my heart. The reason I don't sleep around isn't because I love my wife and wouldn't want to, I would love to have lots of anonymous sex. The reason I don't sleep around is because it would hurt my wife if she found out.

Just curious - I wonder how your wife would feel if she knew that the only thing preventing you from sleeping around was making her feel hurt, when deep down it seems you want to fuck around.

Don't get me started on VS2005. Quality release? Hardly. Our enterprise level app ran fine on VS2003. The lure of Edit-And-Continue functionality of the IDE, and the inclusion of generics in the 2.0 framework were very, very tempting. And now that we've "upgraded" to 2005, we realised it wasn't worth it.

The slooooooow IDE is bad enough, without the IDE constantly complaining of out-of-memory errors, Windows Forms designers deleting code, and the need to shut down the IDE and restart it when encountering assembly caching problems in the forms designers. And this all happens on fairly hefty hardware too: 3Ghz 2Gb P4 systems where one can type much faster than the Intellisense code-completion can keep up? Hmmmmm.
