1.) Don't ignore the south. There are PLENTY of people down here who are just as interested in technology as those to the north and west. All we have down here are a few competitions held by some colleges. Nothing big.
2.) Don't just cater to "at-risk" freshmen. I swear, it seemed everything our HS got technology-wise went to the damned "at-risk" students. Intelligent kids weren't even allowed inside a couple of the technology rooms at my old high school because we weren't "at-risk'.
So, what happens when Lycos points their DNS servers right back at them?
Maybe it would create a cyber time-space vortex that would suck websites back into the past?;) An internet wormhole of sorts...
Ok, time to turn off DS9 and get back to hw...
If you REALLY want to be kept busy, try reading all of Tolkien's works. Off the top of my head:
The Hobbit
The Silmarillion
Lord of the Rings
Book of Lost Tales Book 1
Book of Lost Tales Book 2
Unfinished Tales 1
Unfinished Tales 2
Beowulf translation
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Farmer Giles of Ham
etc....
Most may hate the idea of MS delving into TV, but with their recording feature at least one major corporation will be anti-no-recording-of-TV when it comes up for debate.
Bryant (Carrier) sells a line of A/C's known as the Coast Guard unit. It was developed strictly for use in salt water environments. The aluminum coil is coated with a special compaund (TuffCoat) that protects them from corrosion. Coast Guard Unit A normal A/C unit's coil lasts 2-4 years on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico but these garuntee 3-5 times that life span. I have seen them in action and they kick ASS! The picture of the damaged coil on Bryant's page is no exaggeration, you can poke your fingers through the coil and it's fins. I'm sure if this technology/concept were applied to the aluminum cases and heatsinks it would help greatly, especially if Steve at Hypothermia decides to water cool a computer on his boat. lol
btw, the unit mentioned does cost a little more, but it'll outlast ANYTHING you put in at the beach, Trange, American Std, Janitrol, even other Bryants, Carriers and Paynes (Payne is owned by Bryant, made in same factory).
Until all of the disk utilities I have Images of are ported to a bootable CD-ROM AND all CD-ROM's read CD-R's the floppy will keep saving my ass. I don't see the death of the floppy until ALL Win9x based systems are phased out, even then it will take time to get used to. I tend to love my old school hardware utilities.:)
Yea, so when previously I had to replace a bad stick of RAM I now will have to purchase an entire computer. Hrmm, will the poor college student want to spend $30 on new ram or $300+ for a new board...?
How has your experience with transferring files between office programs and operating systems? Unless, of course, this never occurs between you and your publisher.
When will people learn that WMA and MP3 support isn't enough anymore? Really, how much more would it take to decode Ogg or, even better, allow for writing to the device. Just my -$0.02

I thought Apple made iLoos.
Remember, they were created in secrecy and held no real 'love' for nature, only it's usefulness.
We do have NASA! :D
I'll let you know how well it goes in a few years. Woohoo...!....

Let the file association war continue....
It was disproved years back, a little after Gore invented that Internet thingie.
