eclipse has intelli sense...Its a Free, Java IDE with plugins for other languages, and syntax. I'm not sure if there is a plugin for perl..(I never looked...but if there isn't you could make one...:)

See Hard Drives Scale well that way... and will continue to do so for some time.... the major problem with including GTK in a mozilla package is the the bandwidth.....
bandwidth doesn't scale nearly as well as HD over time...and you still have to download mozzilla....

I think it would be very cool and very usefull, if it could be done without scaling problems, I am not an Expert on RE's but I've always been told that they are slower than indexed lookups, and don't scale to masive quantities of info. and if it can't be done without scaling problems...it could be done for a subset of the net. like find all matching entries of Regex1 within all Url's matching Regex2.
I find they tend to be usefull when looking for something you kinda remember what it is but not quite... URL's - addresses - a parameter or function name you can't quite remember.... one application I might use it for would be to find examples of code....or of files the match a paticular structure.... the web is all about files having almost no structure. an advantage of a RE is that I might be able to build a filter for a paticular file foremat first and work with it from there
if I had a RE wb engine I could find all files in say the SHEF file format with mesurments from a specific station, or group of stations.
but to be honest, if it works and in scales...People will find applications for it, even if they arn't obvious now....

my company suports a broad array of products -All Computers run on windows NT 4.0 -All Development is done in VB-5 -all databases run on MS-SQL Server. -our source Tree is in Microsoft Visual Source safe 5.
what do all the above have in common... 1. they are all out of date usless products created by MS. which force us to keep using future releases of there products to maintain compatability....

Ok...I can't say for sure about Gnome, but I take issue with some of his KDE Problems Specifically I take issues when he be dissing Konq
Konqueror (the main KDE application) leaves a really sour taste.
I have got to Say Konq is by far the best file manager I have ever used. It is Extemely easy to use, and Configure, it is also has way more functionality then any other File Manager I have ever used. quit simply it is DA SHIT!
Compaiting Konq to any other File Manager is like Comparing Google to HotBot..... but he had some good points about the rest of KDE -The default K Menu Is confusing -Window Redraw are slow -the eye candy on the default theme needs to be toned down.
but what can you say....he found windows easier to use....windows is his default environment....now the real question is.
Is his Default DE Windows because its easier to use? or Does he Find Windows easier to Use because its his default DE?
I know why I have KDE running....do you know why you run your Desktop Environment?

you could do other things with the money.
1. of your best developers find the ones that are still working on a 500Mhz Shit box and buy them a new one.
2. sent a few of your developers to a confrence, (obviously in the field that project is in)
3. spend the money on bandwidth.
4. spend the money on promotions of your product. (see #2)
