  1. I've actually used one, and I'm not ashamed... on Perfect Pitch for Those Without It · · Score: 1

Okay, I am in an independant hard rock band called Fusion Ball. And yes, on one of our songs, "The Pain Resides", I used an autotuner.

You see, my band had two 12 hour days in a studio. One day to record, one day to mix. On the first day of recording, we were so stretched on time for our 3 songs we were recording that we didn't really get an in depth listen on everything. We recorded our parts, said "good enough" and then went on to the next thing.

Well, the next day, during the mixing session, I realized my vocals were about half a note off for the whole song. Why? I don't know. The other 2 songs along with the other 7 we recorded there earlier had vocals that were just fine. I didn't want to have to pay to go back and re-track the vocals, so the engineer asked if I wanted to use his new "toy" of a rack mount that he called an "auto tuner". Hell, the thing worked like a dream. My off tune parts sounded perfect and on key.

I have no reason not to use it in certain situations, but using it live, all the time is pretty crappy. When I go hear a band live, I actually like to hear them miss a note every once and a while. Helps me remember that they are still human!

Oh my god, I remember this... I actually had a server setup off my dial up connection years ago, and actually had some friends connect to it. I had the client hosted on my webspace. I wish I still had a copy of it.

It makes me sad knowing that game went off the deep end and disappeared...

So, doctor assisted suicide is still illegal in some states, but Celine Dion isn't?

Also, along the lines of the computers crashing, what if you had files on your computer that you had been working on for years, that you hadn't backed up, and wanting some "easy" listening you pop in good old "Screamin Dion" and it crashes the program you are running, along with your computer, and not only does it corrupt the file you have been working on for years, but also requires you to format.

"Sony, you can't just buy those years of progress back!"

    Really! IT COULD HAPPEN!

Yes, I do believe some terrorists use this so called "interweb" to communicate. I do not believe we are going to be having cyber terrorists hacking into the pentagon. If they hack into it via the web, well, shame on them for even putting any sort of outside access.

If a cyber terrorist hacks into our missile control system and has it launch missiles at ourselves, we deserve it, because if there is anyway for a terrorist to log onto the missile launch programs from their terrorist hide out we should be bombed for our stupidity.

  9. Google is good. Competition? on Teoma Aims To Kill Google · · Score: 1

Okay, so google might have some competition. I love google. Ever since I found google, yahoo has sat miles behind in a cloud of dust. Yahoo is annoying. Google gets straight to the point.

Now, this new "google killer" that they are trying to release could be a bad thing. Lets get a hypothetical situation going on here. Lets say Google gets overshadowed by this new search engine to the point where google unfortunately dies, or comes very close. Then, there is a new reigning search engine, whos original goal was to wipe out the best, free, addless search engine. Now, when you are the best, something usually happens. You get greedy. This also happened to Yahoo. You get to be the best, and you start adding these great "features", and soon come adds, then pop up adds, and then more and more crap. Now google is gone, and we have another Yahoo on our hands.

I DONT WANT GOOGLE TO DIE!

Yeah, I like the gender detection idea, but what if you are a guy that gives off some kind of female horomone more than most guys, but enough to trigger it, and everytime you goto the bathroom it thinks you are a woman? That would seriously suck.

  11. Disney + Square = Square is out of the dumper... on Square and Disney Team Up for Kingdom Hearts · · Score: 2, Insightful

I might be wrong with this, but I think they are teaming up with disney because they need the money. You do remember "Final Fantasy" the movie, right? It was a great movie, but it shouldn't have been called final fantasy, but that is a whole different topic.

Okay, Square lost a HUGE amount of money on that movie, so teaming up with Disney might have boosted their money supply a bit, and the game might actually appeal to younger kids and big kids alike.

You never know, this game might be good, but remember, I did say might, so don't hold me to it...

    Well...

I had a 450 Sparkle PSU, a 512 stick of Crucial PC133 SDRAM, PNY GeForce3 ti200, SBLIVE!Value, and a NetGear Ethernet card with that ECS board. I wish it would have worked, because the board itself was black, and it looks really cool in my LianLi case with a case window, but it didn't do the job. Locking up half way through 3DMark2001se and only being able to play Dark Ages of Camelot for about 30 seconds before a lock up really sucks too. I spent a week trying different drivers, bioses, and everything I could think of before I scrapped the motherboard and got my Asus board A7A266.

Boy was it fun goin in the back yard with a can of WD40 and a lighter, and taking care of that ECS board once and for all...
