As far as I can tell, this is the first time in the history of the world that a company, legit or not, could advertise their products and services for free. Every other method costs a hell of a lot more money and doesn't reach nearly the same audience. Be it paid tv advertising, direct mail, etc.

As long as email is free to send, boxes will always be full of spam. Spam will be the end of email, the problem is only getting worse, with no real hope in sight.

I don't understand why this happens with every new batch of technology that comes around. If they want to tap your phone they need a warrent (all this is not taking into account the US Patriot Act). The same should apply to text messages, and every other new technology that comes down the pike.

I personally think that this is a good time, all the law does is allow equal time. Scrolling through the comments I have seen a lot of people very negative about this and I don't understand why. This doesn't violate free speech ( and being an american I don't really know what Europes free speech laws are anyway) it just makes it so if someone decides on their website to attack someone else that they have a fair chance for rebuttle. There seems to be no better way to increase the flow of good infomration. As I write this though I've come to think of a few interesting situations. What about political campaigns? Do they have to allow their opponenet the chance to respond to their attacks? What about major companies who make advertising claims against other companies? Etc. I have no problem with either of these, I just think it'll be interesitng, and make for an intersting web site. When they release a new video card they jump on it, a new processor, etc. Now it seems that the hardware companies have gotten so far ahead of the software industry that its going to take years before they take advantage of this. The only people a processor like this will benifit are those doing serious computations in photoshop, digital video or mathamatica and those industry professionals aren't using pentiums anyway.
