I've heard that CD-RW discs record data by litterally melting pits into the reflective layer, as opposed to CD-R discs which use a dye that changes colour when exposed to UV light...
Would this mean that CD-RW discs are more reliable for long term data storage?
i believe auto is implicit with most variable declarations.

the ice storms in quebec were MUCH worse. We are lucky that it was summer this time. What do you do without power in the middle of a canadian winter? Even gas furnaces don't work without electricity. Can you go 4 weeks without heat?
i disagree... As much as I love the GPL, it's not as free as the BSD license.
Under the BSD scheme, i am free to do anything i want with the code. Period. No strings attached.
Under the GPL, i am not allowed to change the license, and i have to license any changes i make under the GPL as well.
The BSD license is more free because there are NO conditions for use, modification or distribution of BSD code.
Not that any one license is better than another in general, they both have their places. I personally like the GPL even though it is less free, because the limited freedom it does provide is guaranteed.
yes, maybe the RIAA has rights to those logs.. maybe they do need them to investigate people that are infringing upon their copyrights. But it should be a judge to decide whether or not the RIAA has the right to do so, the RIAA should not have the right to decide for itsself

actually.. x DOES use the network layer when applications are running on the same host as the x server.. they use a named pipe instead of an INET socket.. but none the less, everything is encoded in the X protocol, transmitted over the socket , and decoded at the other end. surely we can eliminate this?
i believe they'll accept code licensed under a BSD license as well, because it can be easily relicensed as GPL code

I just have to run TOP to see that X is currently using almost 10% of my cpu time, and it's using somthign in the range of 75M of ram. Surely this could be reduced if we were to eliminate the network layer? X has it's place, and it can do some nice tricks.. why not just make a rootless X server that can run on directfb for backwards compatibilty?
nobody said they were making it illegal, this is determining if it already is illegal. We have laws against using certain deceptive practices in advertising, which i'm sure you can appreciate.
DoubleClick is stealing from the users. They are stealing the user's time. They miss-represent themselves, in order to catch your attention and direct you to a web page that you have no interest in. They have taken a little bit of your time ( which you will never get back), and have sold it to the owner of a website that you are not interested in.

we have those in canada.. and actually i'm in favour of them.

actually.. this isn't the first time i've heard that story, and i've heard it from a few people. Maybe somone leaked a copy of the game? even by accident?
it wouldn't be the first time in history a product was accidentally shipped too early
currently the laser passes through a series of lesnses to focus the beam correctly, and the incident ray has no problem returning to it's point of origin through the same set of lenses
if you design a network of spinning mirrors, there shouldn't be a problem, because the light can still travel back through the set of mirrors back to the sensor which is located next to the laser

but they can close their network.
at least they're offering a license.
Maybe AOL/ICQ can make good of this, and reel in some more users by opening their protocols?

I've been off for 12 hours!
Other places have had power for a while,
first the big industry got power,
then the major financial districts.
i'm in a suburb of toronto, in a light residential area.. so we got power last of all.
i would assume that he was a few timezones away...

a former employer that owes me alot of money recently gave me his contact information on, what turned out to be a credit card recipt..
Address on the back, Card No. and expiry date on the front.
he's just soooo lucky that i'm not the kind of person that would take advantage of that... ( and he works for a security company!)
