    As an American, do I really care how a non-resident non-American feels about our issues?

    I personally don't. They have little to no influence in our internal affairs and their opinions don't have much use or weight.

    Is the opinion of a socialist from France or a hard line communist from Russia really relevant to our country? Do we really care what Germans think? They did invade and attempt to subjugate Europe twice.. twice mind you.

    When it comes down to it... only American opions matter concerning American affairs. Since when are we ruled or should be ruled by other countries?

    We do this now. There are several pre-natal tests that are optionally performed on the fetus to determine it's likely hood to have certain diseases or birth defects. My wife and I refused to have the test done for both of our daughters. We didn't want to know if our child would be born with any problems and we didn't want to even consider the possiblity of not having the child, known defect or not.

    In any case... we abort unborn babies now out of pure convenience.. what difference would it make to the selfish asshole who would kill their child because they felt inconvenienced?

    It's amazing to me that people here who think that buying a CD, ripping the music and then distributing it, should somehow be above the law, but a person can not legally *purchase* a movie, alter it, lable it as altered and then charge a rental fee.

    Who are we screwing exactly? We feed the world, we run to everyones defense and aid. What's wrong with spending money exactly? It's quite nice to go down to the supermarket and buy food for me and my family. And it's nice to put gas in my car so that I can get to work. What exactly is the problem here?

    blah, blah, blah. The same old lame story about how we are chipping away at the sanity of mother nature.

    Even recent scientific reports of depleted oil deposits off the coast of Santa Barbara and in Texas filling back up from deep underground sources of oil don't even quell these kind of misinformed statements from ignorant liberal atomotons.

    I defy any one here to first show me a piece of scientific data that shows that global warming is taking place and then to show me how it's caused by humans and not THE SUN? The single larges source of heat, radiation, light, etc. How can my lowly piece of crap SUV be causing this massive chunk of rock to heat up, but our sun isn't?

    Where are the campaigns to ban the sun. Ban that sucker and global warming goes out the door, I promise you.

    In any case, it's very easy to find information that points to global warming, from legitimate sources and from hack scientists who wouldn't have a research grant if they don't keep trying to prove it exists. But none of them can actually be attributed to human causes.

    One volcano puts out more toxic and green house gas than the entire history of the automobile. The constant crude oil spills from underground fissures in the ocean far outweight the pitfiul amount of oil lost by tankers each year. One huge forest fire in the west will do more damage to trees than any logging company could in a year.

    I defy you.

    GOD how did Bush get elected President? I'm a Democrat, but if McCain had been on the ballot I would have voted for him in a heartbeat. Now we have a President that has spent over half of his time in office either on vacation or fund raising, or a combination thereof.

    1) We elected him through a representative republic style of election. We are a representative republic. We elect representatives to vote for our president. It happens every four years.

    2) The president has spent no more time on "vacation" than any other president or congressman. The recess/vacation that takes place in the summer is shared by all congressman. Including Democrats.

    3) Do you really think the president is on vacation when he's on vacation? No... he's the president for God's sake. He is never on vacation, just in varying degrees of being the president. Clinton threw all night parties very often and did his vacationing at the white house. Just because Bush goes to camp david, doesn't mean he's not working.

    4) Your fund raising comment is out of line. He has actually been under fire from his party for the lack of fund raising he has done for other Republican presidents.

    5) You are ignorant and speak of things you don't understand. Typical.

    As per the Supreme Court in a decision many years ago. Money = Free Speech. It's our political right as Americans (those of you here that are) to be able to spend our own money in a political situation. Giving money to politicians so that they can buy more print/tv/radio ads and make more stops to visit their districts or what have you is normal.

    Why is it evil to help fund a candidate's campaign?

    How do you feel about the Phantom Menace 1.1 cuts? As long as they don't sell it? Should they have ever made it in the first place? Were you right here in the comments of the slashdot posts, telling everyone how evil the person was for changing the director's visionary choice to use Jar Jar throughout the movie?

    The film could be easily rented uncut first... You are still missing the point. People who go into these stores know what the films do not contain and know that they are edited. They only care for what was removed in the sense that they don't want to view it.

    Are you really concered for the well being and reputation of the director? Give me a break. Why does this anger so many people? If this were software, music or whatever, you'd be gung-ho for fucking whatever evil corporation was behind the creation of it in the first place.

    Protection from what? There is no confusion on anyones part that the movies are the original. What are you protecting them for?

    By your own argument, you *don't* have to rent these edited movies. You are welcome to walk down to the nearest blockbuster and rent your hearts content of any unedited movie on the racks. Don't like an edited version of a movie? Don't rent it.

    Your argument = swiss cheese (that means it has holes in it for most of you reading this post, I know you all tend to be pretty low on the evolutionary chain)

    For the 80% of you who don't even understand what you are trolling for, it's 100% obvious that the tapes they are *RENTING*, not selling, are edited for content. IT'S POSTED EVERYWHERE INCLUDING THE DAMNED TAPE! No one is the rube here.. no one is getting screwed. People go to these stores because they want to specifically rent an edited version of the movie.

    Why does this anger you all so much? You sure as hell don't mind stealing MP3's you don't own, or never will. But these guys somehow should be given 30 to life for doing what they are doing?

    No, we don't really know exactly how we got here. Many people think we were created by a higher power, many theorize that we have been created over a long period of time.

    There simply is no proof that we have been created by accidental gene mutations any more than we were created by 1 part lemon, 2 parts sugar and 4 parts water.

    It's a theory... just like this story. If you begin to automatically take theory for fact, you are a fool.
