and they're slashing workforce? wtf? Is this a sudden dive in quality or is the better tech being used to reduce the number of developers/artists needed? They guy that did the meshes for Metroid Prime spent a month on optimization for the final boss alone. That's not really needed when you've got 8 gigs of ram I suppose.
put cuts on the table just like Paul Ryan wanted. They responded by tearing into him for cutting social security. You can't win with those guys, because they're actively trying to kill the American Middle class so they can pocket the money.
Specifically. I always here this, but the cost of duck penis studies don't even begin to pay for this. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe, just maybe, our gov't isn't wasting nearly as much money as people think it is?
did you know that most states let businesses keep the money you withhold for state taxes? Why do you think all the states started doing mandatory withholding all a sudden?
You're a victim of trickle down economics, not taxation. Your "Job Creators" done got you good.
Heck, then there's that whole internet thing. Practically everything businesses use is heavily subsidized by the gov't, especially big guys like Amazon & Ebay. It's just done in an indirect manner. Amazon pays their warehouse workers poorly and lets the gov't pick up the slack in the form of Earned Income Credit, childcare services, etc (same as Walmart actually).
being abused by gov't. I don't think it really matters. Online is still just online, and I've said before and will say again that the Occupy Wall Street Movement showed that in the real world when the gov't wants something to go away it does.
Basically we don't really have the freedom he's saying we'll lose. Real freedom is economic freedom. You're not free as long as somebody controls your access to food, shelter and health care. Until then you'll do exactly what they say and so will everybody else.
If you want freedom stop bothering with all these surveillance scares and start asking what it takes to really be free. Ask yourself if you can ever be free in a world where 6 people have more money than 100 million others combined?
and it's not so bad. I hate to say it but I liked the animated clone wars movie. That said, I can't in a million years imagine JJ "Lens Flare" Abrams making a good Star Wars movie. But you never know. Maybe he'll just end up managing the project and letting better people write/edit/do all the work to it.
When I as a kid I got kicked out of the Gifted programs for lack of funding. There were only 9 of us that bothered and that wasn't deemed enough to pay for our teacher.
and with IBM out of the picture and Lenova making darn near the same cheap junk Dells the only one left that's big enough you can trust them not to fold and bail on warranty. Yeah, I know they're hurting, but they're a long way from dead. For those of you citing Hostess they really just folded so they could get out of paying the workers pensions. Dell's got everything in Mexico except a tiny bit of support staff that's non-Union, so that liability's a non-issue for them.
I guess what I'm saying is if you're mid sized you're options are Dell, HP or Lenova. Sure, they're interchangeable, but you're going to have to pick on. At least until Chromebooks become viable.
last I heard anyone doing real (read: not sales) work was being outsourced to whatever country was cheapest at the time. Why would I bother hiring IBM to do that when I can do it myself?
Occupy Wall Street showed that when the US Gov't wants a protest movement to go away, it does. So who really cares if we're being watched? What difference does it make from a practical standpoint. Plus, if we can catch these sort of things it's one less excuse for pointless wars against anybody with a turban and brown skin, and one less excuse for Patriot Acts.
All you're really giving up anyway is the illusion of freedom you don't have. Real freedom is economic freedom, and OWS showed us who's really in control.
That would be the SMS version of Road Rash. World Grand Prix too. And there's nothing even close to Space Harrier on the Nintendo. Or the dungeon animation in Phantasy Star.
and as proof, I give you Fatal Fury Special running on the Sega Master System (Game Gear technically, but the hardware is identical) WITHOUT tonnes of custom mappers chips.
You might be right about the N64, but it didn't help much when the carts where $70 a pop a year after a game launched. As for the gamecube, it was the most powerful system of it's generation and the PS2's library trounced it (Persona 4 anyone? Godhand? Okami was a better Zelda than Zelda).
that when people complain about gov't monopolies and they're not Rand Paul they mean the kind where the gov't does all the work, the tax payer pays for it all, and the 1% get all the money. Like Gore Vidal said: Privatize the profits and socialize the losses.
You're not gonna win this fight. The rich will find a way to get their socialism. They're not hung up on 20 years of American Education about the wonders of capitalism like you are. The question isn't are the rich gonna get theirs, it's are you gonna get yours?
Opec anyone? You know, the gas station you buy at doesn't make anything off the gas, right?
I do agree on the gov't monopolies suck though. It's really just the gov't paying for the infrastructure and then handing it over to a private citizen for free. If we're gonna have socialism just keep is social. Internet is so useful and essential to better living it should be a public utility. Hell, there was just a story on cnn about how the worst crop yields of the last 10 years are better than the best of the last 50; and it was partially attributed to sharing better farming techniques. Communication is good.
Liberal vs Conservative. Even if Americans have no real choice the illusion is there, and the study seems to be more about a universal truth: people can easily be made to change their tune on what looks like a deeply held belief.
I'm a democrat, and much as I hate to admit it he's right. My solution is to always vote as far left as I can. Turn the country left.
As for why he's right, half a percent of the population donates almost all the money in politics. If you're going to be in politics, the top 0.5% are going to make that decision.
your wishy-washy political views allow them the split your vote and control the nation. In the end they'll have you voting the corporate party line (and lining their pockets with your hard work) in a desperate effort to hold out on whatever those issues are.
I know the Grandparent is trolling, but he's more or less right. Everything he touches on is economics (even women's rights more or less boil down to money. Rich women had rights and power even in the 1800s). The trouble is, while you're busy being confused about what matters to you and voting on your 'gut instinct' the corps are single issue: money. Your Money. They want it, and with guys like you they're going to get it.
you're the arrogant twit who thinks he's not about to get replaced. But nice try. Good enough is always good enough. Microsoft proved that. And desperation is an excellent substitute for passion and pride.
when you're employed at will. And the billionaires will never stop gunning for what you have. No matter how little it is. That level of greed knows no bounds. Heck, it's what they do. They've got nothing else.
duh. Also,.05% of the populace donates nearly all of the money in politics. Can't remember where I saw the statistic. Some left wing pundit. But it explains why politicians ignore us.
seriously. Can we? You're not a star. You're not special. You're a cog, and you will be replaced by an Indian or Malaysian or some other *-ian that makes less than you do because they don't have indoor plumbing and clean air/water.
If you want a good life you need to start protecting it. That means Unions + a strong Federal Gov't (states are too weak to stand up to corps).

People who own private jets. Just sayin'.

Capitalism is for the poor my friend.

As for your SNES, well it was kinda slow. Not like it ran at the same speed as a Colecovision but.. oh wait. It did. And Ranger X broke the color barrier. Heck, most SNES games didn't run base hardware. It's why cart loaders don't work well.
You might be right about the N64, but it didn't help much when the carts where $70 a pop a year after a game launched. As for the gamecube, it was the most powerful system of it's generation and the PS2's library trounced it (Persona 4 anyone? Godhand? Okami was a better Zelda than Zelda).
Americans side with property, and this is IP (Intellectual Property).

that we can't even recognize it when it happens? Jeez. And we wonder why AT&T / HP / Xerox have gone to hell.
