Don't be ridiculous. What is more important RIGHT NOW - getting off the planet because it will be engulfed by The Sun in 5 billion years or saving vast tracts of the population from starvation when we already have more than enough food to feed them all!

Sure we may want to leave at some point, but if you are talking about saving humanity, there is an awful lot of humanity that needs saving right here first.

You call someone a "small minded demon of impotence" because you would rather save your own ancestors than the millions who will die this year alone due to intransigence on the part of rich nations? Well gee I guess the selfish gene is alive and well in your pool.

Yes but it doesnt have to be those countries that stand up to them. The consuming countries can do it just as effectively. The US and/or Europe alone could do it by simply saying "Show us an audited trail of how you produced these chips. For every gram of crud you produce thats an extra 10% sales tax".

The manufacturers need these markets. If the markets dont like the manufacturers methodds, they can force them to change.

I'm allways suspicious of a writer "completing" the work of anothers - or writing stories in someonelses universe. I find all the Star Wars fiction (Zahn, etc) toe curlingly bad, for example.

This sounds interesting though. I'm a fan of the original Dune books but they had there ups and downs (first one up, last two up, rest down). So, anyone who has read the non - Frank Herbet ones think they compare?

  5. Sounds Good on New Display Technology to Compete with LCDs? · · Score: 2

SOunds like interesting tech. What I find interesting is that they have to join several of there elements together to make a "pixel" - presumably this is to avoid having to scrap every video driver in the known universe. BUT it also means they could run at much higher definition if each element is controled seperatley. Combien that with the more paper like look and you have somthing much much easier to read.

Question though - I may have missed htis but how efficient is the manufacturing process? Isnt the main problem with LCDs that the manufacturing process is incredably inefficient?

I eat cheesy-poofs. I drink an unhealthy amount of coffee. Hopefully my code is pretty good. My suit in no way reflects on this.
