"You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless American Airlines and its affiliates from and against any and all claims, demands, proceedings, suits and actions, including any related liabilities, obligations, losses, damages, deficiencies, penalties, taxes, levies, fines, judgments, settlements, expenses (including legal and accountants' fees and disbursements) and costs (collectively, "Claims"), based on, arising out of or resulting from your use of the Site, including without limitation any Claims alleging facts that if true would constitute your breach of this Agreement."
So if you book a ticket online, and they screw up, you can't get your money back?
The "doomsday scenario" frightens "even us", says Dornseif.
Doomsday? Hey guys, it's the internet! Who's gonna die if the internet shuts down? Come on now, it's not like the next ice age or nuclear war! 99% of worlds population won't give a shit if the internet shuts down for a few days. Who cares if a bunch of nerds freak out 'cause they can't read their emails?
The main question is, are YOU so addicted to the net, that you would use the term "doomsday", if it shuts down?
"You have a dinky little lightweight car, complex as hell, practically unservicable, and you get 50 MPG. Meanwhile, my pickup is getting 35MPG, and without a doubt has a lot more power and towing capability than your car. Not to mention, unlike cars today, my truck is made of actual METAL (not plastic), is much larger than your car, and can tow 3/4 ton."
I'm sure your pickup comes very handy, when your family relocates from one white trash trailer park to another. Also when buying groceries for your 20 brothers and sisters you definetly need towing capabilities of 3/4 ton. And it's goot to get that good MPG, since you propably have to travel to another city quite often to watch wrestling and monster trucks.
Even if your weak ego needs bigger and stronger car than others, that's no excuse to pollute more.
Pickup is not a smart choice for car, if you don't need one, and most people don't need one.
Brain/eye bandwidth is now the real problem. Anyone working on that?
You are so right! I just spend 9 hours in school staring at the chalkboard.. According to what I've learned in that time, I'd quess brain/eye bandwidth is around 5 b/s.
LONDON (Reuters) - A robot has taught itself the principles of flying -- learning in just three hours what evolution took millions of years to achieve, according to research by Swedish scientists published on Wednesday.
Ridiculous to compare prebuilt robot to evolution from some dinosaur to flying dinosaur (also known as bird). This really is tabloid headlining at it's purest.
And the robot didn't even fly, just generated some lift!
It's like saying humans can fly, when they generate 1N lift flapping their arms.
But it's great to see how selflearning robots and programs will start evolving now. I quess pretty soon computers and robots will be able to evolve faster on their own than when developed by humans.
I once unplugged my computer from internet, and removed all hard drives to be placed in safelocker, just so that my computer couldn't be hacked or my internet actions traced. Couldn't visit any webpages after that:( I quess this is some conspiracy with hardware manufacturers and advertisers to harrass me.
"Finally, Coughenour rejected defense arguments that the FBI's actions "were unreasonable and illegal because they failed to comply with Russian law," saying that Russian law does not apply to the agents' actions."
This is what it all really comes to. Does US have the right to make it's agents untouchable to other countries laws? What if this had happened the other way around? (US criminals, Russia agents arrest them and hack to their computers.)
Developers of commercial software that may not typically publish their source code often contribute technology and intellectual property needed to develop new standards.
Yes, and don't we all love the way Microsoft, Macromedia, RealAudio, Apple and such develope new standards?
I believe the best way I've ever heard cryogenics summed up is "The same people that strive to be immortal are the same people that whine about being bored on a rainy Sunday afternoon."
That's exactly why I've decided to freeze myself till we come up with technology to control weather.
Does this mean that all the engineers and rocket scientists have to shower daily? Being rocket scientists and all, it'll propably cost like 500$ each time they "maintain the clean room".
I do it myself every day. Sometimes twice a day. My friend has a girlfriend, and he says he does it himself only few times a month, so I quess this camp is aimed for those with girlfriends ?
Do you ever want to say "Hey this would be a lot better if it were done with [not CGI] instead"?
Many times. On many occasions, puppets would look way more realistic than crappy CGIs. Puppets look real, not too smooth, lightning is real, according to scene etc. Also more attention is put to avoid scenes where you could easily see unnatural movements of puppets.
Imagine something like Gremlins done with CGI in late 90's. Propably would suck big time!
No wonder they never notice how I don't do any actual work. They are just too busy tracking my other doings.

"How cool is that!"
Not really that cool. If you compare it to things like having groupsex with two gorgeous blondes. Or even having sex, actually.
"Toronto, The Naked City"
Damn, even Slashdot is trying to get people to click links by promising pr0n.
(albeit a beta at the moment)
That's still better than most linux software, just go to www.sourceforge.net and see how mony projects ever gets past alpha-stage.

I can block a 20 Bajillion watt transmitter with tinfoil.. I am sure that the signals from 6-12 sattelites overhead can easily be blocked by it.
Just wrapped my Nokia 3310 in tinfoil, still full signal.
Next I'm gonna put some cheese on it and put it in the oven , 225C , 15 minutes.
"If it doesn't last long then you can just wrap some tinfoil around the thing to block the GPS signal"
Dude, you are so going to get sued under the DMCA!

Come one Apple, light my wire...
I've heard a rumor, that original lyrics in that song were "bite my wire". But that was too much for the record company.

What, not even one funny in other news post yet? I'll never read Slashdot again!
