I know that the editors are trying to claim that this is like the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him), but the title "immaculate conception" is inaccurate. The "Immaculate Conception" of Mary (pbuh) is a title given by Catholic doctrine; that she herself was born without the stain ("immacula" in Latin) of Original Sin. (Wikipedia) It is not meant to apply to the birth of Jesus (pbuh)

The title should have read "Virgin Birth in a Boa Constrictor."

Oh I don't think everyone quite got what I meant.
Under Bush, his appointee for UN ambassador John Bolton would always toe the most hardline view possible and try to find ways to avoid the US from falling under its own rules and treaties.

When the UN complained that their 50-year old NY building had an asbestos problem and needed renovation, Bolton replied that the UN official was insulting the US by making such a claim. He's tried to use the claim that the US was above the rules it tried to set, including Biological weapons treaties etc. and called for bombing of Iran or at least heavy sanctions leading up to an invasion.

  16. Re:YES YES YES! on British Airways Chief Slams US Security Requests · · Score: 2, Interesting

It seems more like the system is designed to default to HTML5, but if the client can't view it, it will fall back to Flash. Granted, I'd rather the site/browser detect that for me.

  24. But why? on Adobe Releases Its Own HTML5 Video Player · · Score: 3, Insightful

I don't understand how this makes tactical sense for Adobe. They've been leaning heavily on their talking points that "80% of online video is in Flash format" and that Apple is depriving their customers by sticking with HTML5 (and not flash). I think there was even a fear that Adobe would jump into the working group and delay HTML5 just to protect Flash. If Adobe is supposedly king of the hill, why would they cede turf by moving towards HTML5? It can't be just to be more buzzword-compliant.
