    I don't think it will actually work if I bring a cd back or a software back claiming that I don't agree to the terms. Everywhere I shop, you can't return a software if the package it opened. Maybe where you live it's different but in the US and in Canada you just can't return an open software.

    Isn't it a problem if you can't read the EULA before buying the product? And since you unpacked the CD you are actually stuck with it.

    Since I didn't want to spend time cleaning my friends and family members' machines the mac mini made it perfect for me. I made my sister switch to a very inexpensive mac and voila.

    Stuff could become of domain public if some heirs don't bother paying the copyright tax. I don't dislike the idea to be honest. it could be a low tax but you just need to bother renewing it.

    don't really understand the issues, can't measure adequately the consequences and put a lot of faith in "false security". Or maybe it's just me.

    I don't mind to pay if it's reasonable. I pay for my software licenses. I bought some music from the apple store (but un-drm'ed it of course but that's another story). The point is that paying your sharewares is a good thing and paying your music is a good thing.
