Sorry to say, but in the Netherlands (and I know of more countries) you can buy multiple SIM-cards from your telco that have been cloned (as in identical!!!) and they both work without any real issues. There is only one drawback, only one can receive calls and that is if I'm not mistaken the first one that was actived when you have them both active. This feature was "designed" so people could have a SIM-card for the car phone and there for the mobile phone.

Porn is what made the web to where it now is and it will take it where it needs to be. Porn is a constant factor and can't be ignored. And for the big filetransfers you need to write to your congresman to support him with a new taxes that limits big filetransfers with some new weird and kinky law to collect tax on big filetransfers. But on the other side, there is a difference in slow connections in Europe and in the US.

10 Mbit internet is fun, but are you going to use it? I know I can say that at least 97% of the people can do with dial-up or the slowest DSL/cable/wifi connection. And why should people need to pay more then they need? So they can pay for bandwidth reservations for the other 3% that wants to get there daily porting of illegal stuff right of the internet? I don't think so and in the end it only matters how much you need to pay and can effort.

This discussion is also going on in Europe and in the Netherlands there are ISP like XS4ALL, BIT and Interned Services who have made some calculations. The cost is pretty high, but it seems the government and the EU are still pushing this in name of preventing crime and terror.

I'm currently experimenting with SVG and I love it for making traffic/usage graphs. Instead of converting it to PNG on the server and then send it to the use I'm now able to just send a SVG-file and let the client render it. I can't wait to see this in Firefox because I now have to use Mozilla of Opera.

Who said it bothers some people? They most likely don't get the traffic bill every month. And also since some providers think they can block everyone and whitelist only the one that have signed there agreement I don't really care any more about mailserver who are listed. I only care about national mailserver and the rest is allowed to unlist themselfs. I even think there comes a moment this year or next year that some RFC-issues are being required to mail my mailservers.

First of all, no OS/distribution can fit all. And about the ports, yes that is a problem but no for me, because I first test it on a testmachine before putting it in production. Als your comment about x.org, I still needed to create configfile by hand, no real problem.

The moment upstream say "No, upgrade because X, Y en Z" its unmaintained. Its that simple and I'm not complaining about security fixes. But even that isn't really that good anymore. PHP for example, there were problems discovered about 18 days ago and still no sign of there will be a DSA or not. Also the kernel has outstanding problems.

First of all, I liked debian and run it for years, but. Yes but. Its become something like Qmail or djbdns. It became unmaintained, it became a nightmare. It has software what is over 30 months old and most software isn't even supported anymore by upstream. For example try to submit a PHP-bug or complain about Postfix or get support for Postgresql. It isn't there anymore. I don't mind running behind with my software when its still safe, but when upstreams say "UPGRADE before you complain!!!" its over for me. Currently I have machines with backports and lots of it, but I'm not going to wait for Sarge. I'm running tests with FreeBSD 5.2.1/5.3 for a while now and soon the first debian machines will be something of the past.
