Everything went smoothly I'm happy to report. I'm still going through my personal list of bugs to see how many of them were fixed, but it appears to be a solid release!
The useless "32MB" number is more realistically what they studied at the time. When the study was done, they probably looked at the most popular size chip. If you don't give specifics to your research for your study, what kind of science are you conducting?
The problem is not being able to purify polluted water, but how much energy it will take to do so. More fossil fuels will have to be consumed than may be worth. It may just be easier to spend that energy somewhere else (perhaps desalinization) if clean water is the goal.

Strangely enough, the ban on his Internet usage was found unconstitutional, but coincidentally takes effect on the same day the ban is lifted.
Maybe not quite a storage bank...more like a computer. The greatest computer in the universe! Designed by Deep Thought for a few white mice to determine the Ultimate Question(TM) to the Ultimate Answer(TM) all so they could profit on some talk shows.
After my refusing to exchange the tickets for the "real" midnight showing for an additional $3.25 each and convincing another manager today that it was in her best interest to honor these tickets as purchased using several of the ideas that my fellow/.'ers came up with, I am proud to say that I will be attending the premiere showing tonight. I never received an apology and she maintains that she is going way beyond the call of duty in her correcting what was a "computer's mistake" (blaming some poor German programmers). I still do not feel like she truly values my continued business and I will have to decide if I will continue to watch my movies there, but for now I'm going to tally this up as a victory.
Thank you so much for everyone's support! You guys are awesome!!!
But [storage space] isn't as expensive for them as it is for us. You see, our characters are much more expensive to store than those of other games.....
Okay, so let me get this straight: They aren't going to allow multiple characters because of "storage constraints?" According to PriceWatch, the cost per gigabyte is rapidly approaching $1/GB. You can't expect me to believe that even storing the massive amounts of data for "customized faces" can't be more than a few hundred KB. So at most, an entire account might run up a few MB. Just in the initial purchase price alone, they could reserve a whole GB for you to use and still come out profiting.
I wouldn't recommend Windows on any platform if you can get away with it, but Yellow Dog Linux is a perfectly decent linux operating system for the Mac. If you don't want to sacrafice your Apple-branded OS, Mac On Linux allows you to run Mac OS X inside Linux. For added variety, VirtualPC will allow you to run Windows under Mac OS X under Linux.
Maybe George Carlin had a point: We aren't committing any significant amount of resources in combating houselessness and hunger because there is no money in it. Our foreign policy is created to further American interests.
We have troops in South Korea right now because we have a vested interest in trade with South Koreans. The price of the troops is more than compensated by the benefits to businesses.
As far as welfare goes, the Federal government spent $18.7 billion on TANF in fiscal year 2002, making up about 1% of the total budget. However, total social welfare programs make up more than 45% of the total budget. Less than 1% of the total budget is spent on foreign aid. We need to help our own people out, but we also have a responsibility as a world citizen to help others as well.
The reason why the United States is viewed in such a unpleasant light is because we are selfish. For example: We enjoy driving our SUVs that get 15 MPG. The cost of that is oil. So, we help establish foreign governments that are favorable towards exporting us oil. By messing with another sovereign nation, we create a lot of enemies. So until Americans are willing to sacrifice their Lifestyle(TM), we will continue to draw hate from affected groups in the world community.
I played around with networking my PowerBook G4 to my Windoze box and was unable to get file sharing over FireWire to work. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough or perhaps it's because this is a preview release...
I've been using FireWire Target Disk Mode for transferring large files from my PowerBook G4 (original release, didn't include Gigabit Ethernet) to my desktop system. Finally I no l longer have to shut down the machine to sync them up, now if only they get AppleTalk working...
So when can we expect free WiFi to roll out to the cities in the US? They're trying to shut down free access here in the name of security. Terrorists could use this anonymous access to plot nasty things against Americans.

I've been browsing for about an hour now using the new version without a crash! Wahoo!!!!

So how does that compare with a swallow?
..."African or European?" I don't know that. Aaaarrrrggggg!!!
Not to be off topic or anything, but yeah, I know what you mean.
According to the NPR article on All Things Considered, the fine for riding the Segways on the sidewalk in SF is up to $500.

I believe this has been the case since 10.2.
I was going to post the KBase document, but it was down when I posted the article. In other news: so far, my Mac's still alive and running 10.2.3! :)

Alright, so they are using SCSI. We're still talking peanuts though! Even at $5/GB for SCSI drives, the price of data is still nothing to sweat about.
Have we hosed Sony now? Shameless karma whoring at its best, except why go off and post AC?
We're sure being generous with the karma tonight. Isn't that just common sense? I mean the comment is fair and valid, but is it truly insightful?

It looked like some of those robots could flex.
Sorry dude, took a lot of time to run through /. Posted this when it was released...

Wouldn't Federal law govern this agreement since it deals with interstate commerce?
Works for me using AT&T GPRS, T68i, & Bluetooth on my PowerBook G4 . AT&T is a bit slow, like molasses in January, but hey, I can still get my /.
