No it does not work the same in the U.S. and I wonder who modded you. There is no law specifically barring foreigners from taking control of American companies with the limited exceptions posed by national security issues.
In America they urge you to "Buy American". In China they put a gun to your head and tell you to buy Chinese apparently.
Same here. I had to replace my desktop a few weeks ago and it came with Home Premium. I initially intended to wipe the drive and install XP Pro but gave Vista a chance. I don't know if I prefer it to XP Pro but as an OS Vista is pretty solid. It flawlessly ran every single one of the apps that I rely on and has been stable (so far).
Nice populism but that's not what my government decided. It's quite clear that the only reason the RCMP isn't going after file sharers is because they don't have the resources to do so.
Wow, another child of the 1960s who thinks his music is the be all and end all. The only thing that cheers me is that one day the last of you will die and I will likely be alive to enjoy the fact.
So intercepting international phone calls -- in this case between Germany from both Pakistan and Turkey, international calls utilizing American networks and international calls to suspected Americans damages your civil liberties? Which ones, so we can all be on the same page? I want to sound like Dennis Kucinich too!
Given the United Nation's history of failing to honour its own resolutions, I doubt anyone should be too worried about them. The five permanent members of the Security Council maybe, but certainly not the UN as a whole...
> "You don't need to be credible on television," explains Keith Olbermann, the erudite host of his own show on MSNBC. "You don't need to be authoritative. You don't need to be informed. You don't need to be honest. All these things that we used to associate with what we do are no longer factors.
Olbermann is proof positive of his own assertions.
My point is simply that the average law school professor seems more interested in theory than actual practice -- both literal and figurative. As the old saying goes, law school teaches you about law, not practicing it in a court of law.
Who are these magical users who call up their relatives and demand an old version of an operating system because the new fangled one just dun work right!!!1! I've been using computers since the end of the Carter Administration and can count on one hand in that time someone asking me to remove an operating system off of a new PC in favour of an old version, and only because they had a legacy application that was essential to their operations.
I'm not calling BS on you but I hear this on Slashdot so often that I'm beginning to think it's another claim that people make that isn't true but buttresses their argument.
I am truly amazed you could write the same fecking post several times and *still* get modded up. Where are my mod points when I need to mod a twitter post as redundant?
> For example, it shows how despite the MPAA's claim of movie piracy, Canada was the industry's fastest growing market last year. Similarly, while the recording industry says Canada is the world's top P2P country, the data shows that the Canadian music industry is experiencing record gains...
So how is any of this exclusive of each other? Canada could be experience a quickly growing market and rampant piracy and it could be the top P2P country while enjoying strong sales.
I'm running Vista on a modern computer and it most certainly does not take 1:30 to boot up. Under a minute on my system.

Just my experience...

There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die.

So if the number of CDs being sold is done, that means the logic of this study's results should show that downloading is done as well. Riiiighhht.
The fact that some of us have televisions far bigger than our monitors?
I won't be impressed until scientists are able to create an inverted tachyon pulse that solves any problems caused by spatial anomalies.

Had I points I would have modded you up.

The funniest thing I will likely read this week.
Pascal is still around? I used to do some light coding in Pascal back in the mid-1980s. So when is a new version of Modula going to be released? :-)

The Democrats were just angry that all the dead people that vote for them suddenly found the value of their vote diminished.
It's human caused climate change! Why not? Apparently everything from bounced cheques to my hair loss.

Well said. I'm no Tyler Durden but I'm not working a job I don't like to buy crap I don't need, like HD or BR.
