>>You can purchase Linux For the Rest of Us from bn.com.
It's listed as not available. Or perhaps that's because Slashdotters have gobbled up all the copies?
At the risk of much criticism and hateful comments, I'm not primarily a Linux user. I'm currently fighting my way though a Linux install and set-up process for the first time, and will probably buy this book on the way home today. I know, many geeks are totally into Linux already, but I feel like the fat guy (which I am) who goes to the gym (which I don't) to get in shape. Everyone else at the gym is already buff and sends him whithering looks. Hopefully, Slashdotters will be nicer.

You'll get all the bibliographic info, plus prices from a wide variety of sources. It's a great resource.
Yes, the point is that there will suddenly be no more releases of them, patches won't be supported, basically all Mac and Linux development in those directions will die off.
First, I think those state licenses are more to limit people coming into the profession, i.e. just one more hurdle, and provide a way for insurance companies to cover their rears.
Second, many of the certifications that exist now are devalued by all these "boot camps" where someone learns enough useless knowledge to pass the test and then forgets it a week later.
I used to find Ask Jeeves very helpful. I was often able to get at questions for which other search engines gave me too many answers. I've used it less and less as they've put in more and more sponsored links. I suspect that I'll never use it now.

There's an easy way for the Forestry service to get the money: Just make sure one of the Bush buddies, like Haliburton (I know, they don't do this type of work) is getting the contract. Suddenly, there'll be funds available. Of course, those funds may come out of other Forestry service money, but hey, you don't need to prevent fires when you have spiffy new drones to put them out!
Interestingly, my new Xbox controller (yes, flame me now, it came free with my free Xbox) has two buttons that are moved around and around, and occasionally pushed on, to achieve the desired results... This is much more remenicent of the female sex organs. But my joystick is definitely more male sex organ-ish. Hmmm...I wonder what that says about me.
are premature. People have been claiming the end of MS for years, and it's still going strong. While I'd love to see it at least shaken up and reformed, and more consumer friendly, I don't yet see any evidence of even a mild decline.
And how much more did it all cost you to get the Mac version?
When was the last time you played Mechwarrior (an awesome game) or Never Winter Nights? What about CounterStrike? Is that out for the PS2?
Name me a vital piece of software you can't get for the PC.
I seem to remember about a year ago, or so, there was some research on stem cells in fat tissue. I'd be happy to donate some of mine for medical research, I imagine you'd have lots of people willing to donate. And isn't liposuction a little easier than taping somone's bone marrow?
I know, I don't have the links or the knowledge here.

Tried that. Didn't work. I started getting more and more calls. As more of my purchases go on-line and fewer in-person, there's a more frequent requirement that I give a phone number. So no matter what, a far greater number of people are getting my number. Asking to be taken off the list has reduced my calls from about 2 a night to about 4 a week. Still too much, but an improvement, especially during the holiday season.

If I had any mod points, you'd be moded up. That was great.
Though there is a small but significant chance that the proliforation of Andrew Dice Clay movies will make it move AWAY from the Earth. Wouldn't you?
This would not be uncommon for small businesses running some version of Windows behind a router.

In SOVIET RUSSIA, GUM was a department store. Sorry, couldn't resist.

How about "Touchpad"? Or even "Joystick"?

You wouldn't be able to get much decent software, or the really good games. And all for the price of a couple of decent quality PC's.

Oh, how original. Nazi bastard.
You know, I looked a couple of times, and I didn't see it on the link marked "Current". Are you sure you refreshed?
You disgust me. With this tripe, you should be posting on Yahoo! Message boards.
