Interesting. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that I dual-boot Windows XP and Gentoo on, but I have been unable to get sleep and hiberate to work. Actually, both work, it is waking it back up that I cannot get it to do. Any tips? Perhaps a copy of your ACPI config files? I would much prefer to be using Linux as my main OS, but I cannot use an OS without proper power management support on a laptop.

Ummm... if Dell is producing the laptop, they have to provide Windows drivers for that stuff in their Windows laptops. I see no reason why Dell would sell their Linux laptops without sufficient drivers. As a sidenote, I own an Inspiron 6000D that I dual-boot XP/Gentoo. The CPU frequency and fan adjust automatically as expected, although I have yet to get sleep-mode working and hibernating working completely. Those last two are things that I am sure Dell has covered in the laptops mentioned in the article.

Another poster suggests the technology is advanced enough. The question remains as to how good games will be at interpreting the signals from the controller. Maybe Nintendo has it figured out, but I would not place high hopes on first-gen games using the revolution with the precision that it is capable of. Remember that the Revolution has Gamecube controller ports, too. I assume Nintendo would allow retro games to be played with either controller, and the Gamecube controller does have A, B, X, Y, R, and L. I agree it would be nice if you could do it on the Revolution controller, too, though. Actually, if they are going to just do a simple emulator and throw some ROMs online for sale, how will they deal with games where you need all six of those buttons? I figure a and b could be either X and Y or R and L, but using them as both in a single game would be pretty much unusable.

Or you could just use a filesystem that supports hard-linking files (see: man ln), so you do not have to worry about that even when using a filesystem for this purpose. Since such a file is read-only, it could just be linked to all of those people's mail boxes. If you do not know what a hard link is, it is basically the same thing you are describing, except done in the filesystem and handled transparently by the kernel. Basically, every "file" you see in an Ext 2/3 filesystem is really just a pointer to where the file is stored, and any actual file can have as many as these links as you want. When there are no remaining links to a file, it is allowed to be deleted.
