    Engadget has a video of the match that includes the visualization of the response... In several cases it did not have an answer by the time the other contestant buzzed in and in some cases it was close to a tie.

    In an interview it was stated it takes about 3 seconds on average to answer a question, which is actually kinda long when some of the humans will be able to predict the answer as soon as they have read or heard only part of the clue.

    Leave your laptop in Sleep mode.. It will last many hours but it will eventually get critically low and shut down..

    I believe both Firefox and Chrome have aggressive prefetching as an option but not a default. If you install some of those Faster Firefox plugin/extensions they turn these features on.

    The last $20 alarm clock I used that had a battery backup would keep poor time, and run many minutes fast every time it when on battery.. even with the battery it would start blinking and want to be reset just to be sure..

    Also those alarm clocks just take up space, travelling? Yet another thing to pack, you could figure out the hotel alarm clock or ask for a wakeup call but it is still convenient to have your own alarm. Many people have stopped wearing a watch because they have a phone with them everywhere.

    I really can't believe this is a problem.. I figure someone at Apple is getting fired over this..

    1. Companies do not have any money to rebuild applications that are only compatible with Microsoft Products
    2. Companies are unwilling to spend money on replacing systems that work.
    3. Security is not a priority often as it costs money.
    4. Just because the software is free doesn't mean the employee training, implementation project or any of the costs of switching don't matter.

    As a developer there is a HUGE difference...

    The iOS devices basically progress in a predictable fashion inheriting the functions of the last gen.. IE you can easily choose your lowest target and with very minimal tweaking support ALL higher / newer devices.. Also using consistent APIs you can detect specific models and enable specific features, knowing they EXIST on the device without writing custom code to detect them.

    As android has progressed there have been APIs from vendors made to support model specific features. You can't count on what UI the user sees since HTC, Sony and Moto all reskin the OS... Makes it fun to explain to users how to do stuff when the OS looks alien.

    No, but it does support user scripts natively that can be found in Opera and in the GreaseMonkey plugin for Firefox.

    Locks are useless if you have 100 contractors one one of them makes a wall out of drywall that was meant to be concrete.

    Looking at the discussions that go back and forth on some open source projects everyone tends to be so self interested in their opinion or their part of the project it is hardly likely that the guy who wrote a the RSS feed parser or the guy that wrote the WYSIWYG comment editor have any clue what the guy who wrote the password login system did.

    Hell for that matter you look at SF how many of the projects are written and maintained by ONE PERSON. I bet hardly any end users do a code audit on those programs before using them.

    Ya, that was covered in the documentary "Sicko", the US doesn't give time off, and many people do at least some WORK during their vacation. It is suspected this leads to poor heath.

    If you have been following the details of this, yes they have existing agreements but they go like this..

    If I provide content, and your users are consuming it, I don't pay you, your customers do as they are the content consumers. We work together making sure the pipes between us are big enough to keep up with demand without charge.

    Comcast has changed it to:

    If your content is really really popular and we need bigger connections between us, I am going to charge you for the larger connections on my side, because I am not charging enough for what my customers are consuming.

    You don't even need group policy... once you install a Windows CA in Enterprise mode its automatic, the chain will be distributed and trusted via active directory.

    Security matters to some.. however the draw of Social Sites is which of your friends are there... If you have a fairly large circle of friends and family you will use what ever the most of them use because it makes sense.. It is next to impossible to move everyone to something new unless they already want to.

    Jobs was just never happy with battery performance and other tablet problems... Then they figured out that they could start out even smaller with a phone and do a good job...

    It is almost impossible to determine how a company will treat you up front, sure there are some signs you can find on your own but determining details can be hard in a job search..

    I have to agree with him, previously I stayed with a company for a max of 2 years.. In all cases my performance was rated as above expectation, however in many cases I received minimal raises or non at all.. Jumping companies with more and more experience under my belt netted me huge increases in salary in many cases. It was only my last jump that was internal, as the company I work for had a senior position open up in the head office, I had to move for the roll, but yet again it was a big jump.. Now I have been getting very reasonable increases and recognition for my performance.

    If you are excelling and your company is not paying you as well as others it is always well worth the effort to investigate other options.

    It seems clear that MS is going to WAIT for its hardware partners to build SOMETHING.. This is a loosing strategy these days, google at least boot strapped the Android smart phone market by releasing their Nexus one to show the vendors a reference of a "SUPER" phone with full features.

    FYI one of the least mentioned benefits to iPhones and iPads is the complete lack of shovel ware / trial ware heaped on on the devices by Telcos and hardware vendors... It is clean and consistent right out of the box.

    ATOM processors are VERY slow compared to the dual Core they chose, unless you pair the ATOM with an integrated GPU on an ION board you would easily go over budget trying to cram in a GPU.. Then you are also stuck trying to use GPU accelerated applications or you suffer horrid performance for multi-media..

    Other than physical size they system they built vastly out performs a ATOM solution.

    But google has already announced their will be no nexus 2 and that they will not produce any more phones directly.. The Nexus one was just to boot strap the android market with a feature packed phone... the current nexus one is now on life support.

    But that goes the same for all android phones it seems.. with googles crazy release cycles few of the already released phones can be upgraded to the latest and gratest OS officially.. forcing users to root and get community versions..

    We have started to deploy more multimedia intense apps and found most of our 3+ year old laptops where dogs at running them..

    We then did some side by side benchmarks between an old laptop with the HD replaced with an SSD vs a new laptop with a new normal HD. Guess what? In MOST tests the old laptop performed BETTER than the new one, despite the new laptop having a faster CPU and main board...

    Guess what, although they cost WAY more than a new normal HD per GB, they are WAY cheaper than a new laptop!

    The concept worked but Adam did not have the stamina to scale the entire building. Making the climb would require significant physical training.
