The article says:
"SSL flaw doesn't affect any other application outside Internet Explorer and that it's a client-side issue only"
But if it only affects IE, and not programs such as netscape (which also of course runs on windows), then technically it IS a problem with IE!
The xbox would be a better choice to get...costs the same price, and hopefully the linux kernel will be fully working on it soon. Also, it has an excellent video card...the lindows machine probably has a really crappy card. Also, you could even use the xbox with your tv, so you don't really have to pay for a monitor like you do for the lindows pc!
Good thing I learned this trick...

I found out that if you e-mail out your passphrase and private key, and the e-mail gets intercepted by a malicious user, the malicious user might be able to use the e-mail to decode your PGP encoded messages...
Equally insane is the number of relatively equal sized soda bottles that companies use for the same soda. For example, I've seen Coke in 20 oz, 24 oz, and.5 liter (17 oz) bottles. Of course it also comes in 1 liter and 2 liter bottles too, but the crazy thing is that the first three sizes are basically the same...why not just sell one size!
For every song that these dj's play, the MPAA and RIAA can cause up to $50 worth of damage to the turntable. I wonder if the warranty would cover that...
from the article:
None of this might be happening if traditional 30-second commercials got more respect. Many consumers treat them as an excuse to change channels.
Well, using 25% of the screen in one of the corners for a pop up ad won't really stop me from channel surfing during the ads...I'll just cover over the ad with picture in picture...that way, I'll never even notice when there are commercials!
This is one of the problems and one of the benefits that linux is open source. The bad thing is that hackers can see the weaknesses in the code and exploit them. The good thing is that users can help fix the faulty code, and patch the error, unlike in windows, where microsoft usually is the one to "patch" the vulnerabilty.
'To construct the virus, the researchers say they followed a recipe they downloaded from the internet and used gene sequences from a mail-order supplier.'
This sounds like its nothing revolutionary...first, the recipe apparently was already on the internet in public access...and they used parts from a mail order catalog! How come whenever I read those science magazines, it never has advertisements for the "Make your own Virus...In Your Home!" kit?
Seems to me that if its so impressive and potentually harmful, it wouldn't have already been posted on the internet!
From the News.com.au article: The Daily Telegraph has learned the helicopter will include a camera mounted in the pilot's seat, giving the moviegoer a bird's-eye-view as the aircraft whizzes across the city.
I REALLY don't understand what is so amazing about this. You want to see a "special-effects" stunt where a camera gives the viewer a bird's eye view, turn on your tv in the morning, and watch the traffic report.

On that game that the US Army is developing, "America's Army" http://www.americasarmy.com , if you shoot a team mate, even if its only once, you get banned from the server immediately. This was in an interview which was posted on CNET a month ago or so.
To quote the article
"FYI, I've released the code for the winning Google contest entry under the GPL"
So, GNUgle may be the correct spelling after all.
Playstation 2?!? HAHAHAA!!! Oh the irony! Now all those people who pimp the PS2, and talk about how lame the xbox is because "its just a pc...", when PS2 is the one that will be able to play windows games!

Now I have to have TWO celebrations today...first I gotta celebrate the anniversary of "Code Red", now this!

Its a free search engine which follows the GNU Free Software guidelines. However, that's spelled GNUgle, so either way, it's a typo.
