    how do you stop? It seems like it would be difficult if you have an engine propelling you at 23 mph. I don't think standard bike brakes will do it...and how does the engine know when to turn off?

    A lot of businesses will not consider a student staff position as real employment. Some will completetly ignore that experience even though you might have learned a lot in a universitie's IT department.

    To address the worry about software bugs and electrical snafus, first voiced when by-wire controls appeared in aircraft many years ago, Mercedes also includes a hydraulic backup system for the front wheels, forgoing any savings in weight or cumbersome connections that the system might have provided.

    Did you read the post? He was talking about the end-user being supported, not the software being updated. If you write a program that is so easy to use that companies that implement have few support issues then you will probably keep your job, regardless of how easy it is for someone else to update your code.

    I think most of the people that have gotten in trouble for violations of the DMCA are those who have made something that circumvents the copy protection of something else. Like Dimitry Skylarov and Elcomsoft, who made the software to read Adobe's e-books. They weren't end users, they were the developers. Or 2600 for publishing the DECSS. I would imagine the IEEE would like developers to have more freedom to create new stuff using their standards.

    Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The create technical standards. They certainly don't want a law that will unjustly limit the standards they can create/use.

    I like that they are asking for clarification. Sure, it would be nice to just have the DMCA go away but clarification would help a lot. The DMCA is a really poorly written law that can be interpreted in lots of ways. If Congress was force to clarify what the DMCA covers a lot of the corporate misuse would not be viable anymore.

    Yeah, I definately need a terehertz imaging equipped video camera!

    I have heard that video cameras with really good low light (zero lux?) capabilities can see through thin layers of clothing. Haven't tried it myselft though.

    This doesn't even take into account the 99.9% of web pages suck or are unnecessary anyways.

    What standard is this based on? My website wite sucks and is only necessary for my own amusement but it is similar to my favorite kind of sites on the web. I would use the web a lot less if it wasn't for those 99.9% of web sites. Most blogs, for instance, suck and are unnecessary but at the same time the total of all the blogs is having a big impact on news outlets and the media.
