I am afraid the article is wrong. Return of the Jedi was also rated PG-13
The article is correct, just not specific. The PG-13 rating was given to RotJ after the fact (for the re-releases and video market). In its original theatrical release in 1983, it was rated PG. The PG-13 rating was not originated until 1984. The first movie to be released with a PG-13 rating was Red Dawn (July 1984).
They just keep lowering the bar. Judging by the fact that the teenager I bought pizza from this lunch hour couldn't subtract $8 from $20 without her cash register (I had to tell her I had $12 change coming) I would say that we don't really expect any student to be adapt at mathematical reasoning anymore. Calculators are required in grade school now. They might as well allow students to use a spell checker during spelling tests.
Now's the easiest time to nip this in the bud. If test marketing is negative, the project will get dropped. If you see these ads, call and complain like a SOB or it will get worse. Make sure you threaten to return your Tivo and post nasty message on/..
but "religious issues"? Is that really necessary in science fiction?
To me, social issues, espicially religion, can be the most interesting aspect of sci fi. Anthropology is a science after all. Actually, it's the science I would have gone into if I could make the same moneny as I do in engineering. I'm not religious, but I love reading/talking about religion and how it affects peoples lives. It can be fascinating stuff. After all, more wars have been fought over religion, than science.
Not only are mutli-functional cell phones talking away from pda sales but, now that we have wireless in our building, everyone in my office just carries their laptops to our meetings. No syncing necesary; just type your notes straight on the network. I do keep mine around (mainly out of force of habit) but I'm one of the few that do.
1.The problem is that the lead in the landfill will leach into the soil, effectively posioning the water table. That's a bad thing.
2.Consumer electronics dying in two years because of tin whiskers? Many consumer electronics do have a two year shelf life. At the factory I do product testing for, we discovered tin whiskers on some or our products. It freaked most of us out cause we had never seen it before; the older guys at worked informed us of the history of tin whiskers. We have yet to see any failures due to them. Remember, these "whiskers" are pretty damn thin. I would say they are a low concern when it comes to product life.
This happens to authors, movie directors, musicians, etc... Almost every artist whose work is considered a great insightful masterpeice either dismiss all the "insight" in their work or, if they want to be thought of as a genius, just don't comment on it publically.
Once you unleash your creation on the world, you lose control of it. Period! It is not possible to control how someone else interperts your work. That's why I'm retaining ALL creative control of my novel... by never writing it. That way, it can't be misinterpreted by the masses.
To me, this is way within acceptable margin of error
Good. You have a cell phone blow up in your face.
Acceptable margin of error goes out the window when catastrophic errors occur. In that case 1 is too many and company's spend lot's of money to try to prevent them from happening. Burns to the neck, face, hands... not good for a company's PR. The potential lawsuit can FAR outweight the money it would cost to recall the product or, better yet, the R&D time it would take to keep this shit from happening. Of course, they want to get their product out fast so they wind up using untested parts (i.e., badly produced batteries). As battery power needs become greater, the potential for disaster becomes greater. My company spends a great deal of time testing the batteries in our products and qualifying our suppliers. I have no leniecy for these cell phone manufactoers. Complete carelessness on their part.
Even during Walt's time, most of the movies produced by Disney were mined from other sources. Mary Poppins, Snow White, Absent Minded Proffessor, etc. A great deal of Disney's stories were taken from existing stories.
It will be replaced by mentats.
I'm sick of people saying this. The original series was only on for four years ('66-'69) and it was good from day one.

You seem to be trying rather hard to rationalize all this.
Now's the easiest time to nip this in the bud. If test marketing is negative, the project will get dropped. If you see these ads, call and complain like a SOB or it will get worse. Make sure you threaten to return your Tivo and post nasty message on /..
That would only really be possible if you had pop music on your iPod. I'm sure none of you out there listen to that crap, do you?
If a patent is given for this, then it proves that the patent system is truely broken beyond repair.
Except, that the Czech farmer she thought she was, always dreamed of being a butcher.
Somday, we'll find it.

Cool, just like Night Man! ... O, I mean ... not so cool ... I mean ...I've never seen the show ... just commercials ....
It's better to be pro-active and pillage the Virgin Soil than wait around and get sloppy seconds.

Wow. Count Dukoo can really make a fast getaway in that.
Apparently, you haven't seen any new movies lately. Since when is a script needed to begin production?

At last, my evil plan is coming to fruition. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ......
My God ... it's full of starfish...

...and Mr Gates gets so much SPAM ... because he signs up to more internet pr0n sites than any other man in America!
See, if they did that, then they would have to produce shows worth watching ... that ain't gonna happen.
