Looking at these images (LVS and WLBS) it seems with LVS there is a single point of failure with the load balancer box. With Windows load balancing there is no "balancer box" and if any one server fails the cluster continues without missing a beat.
While I can't really comment on voice over IP as I've never used it I have read a lot about over the Broadband Reportsforums. You may want to stop by and ask your question there.
It does seem to have a mini-pci slot on the bottom according to this. This could make for one cool car computer for DVDs, mp3s, and GPS navigation. Low power consumption, low heat dissapation, and good performance for audio and DVDs.
DVD Shrink. Rip your movies to the hard drive, and then burn them with Nero or some other DVD burnin software. DVD Shrink is free and works great. It is Windows however.
If anyone is interested in what this sort of server carnage looks like, here are the statistics for slushdot.org. (static, but I'm updating them from time to time)
According to the stats, we've moved more than 17 gigs this month (99.999% begin since last night).
According to netstat -w 1, the server is still moving more than 2 Mbps per second at least with spikes to almost 10 Mbps. Rarely is it dropping below 2 Mbps for any second.
This started at 21:09 on 2/19 and it is 08:30 where I live and tailing the log file will still make you dizzy it's moving so quick.
I know slashdot geeks like these things so I hope you enjoy and sorry about being so offtopic.
I am not slashdot, nor am I affiliated with slashdot. I'm a jackass/dumbass with a computer and a lot of bandwidth and too much time on my hands...so I mirror for the masses. And I also whored out a domain name like slashdot so it would be funnier.
I used to work for one of those retailers you mentioned many years ago and I can tell you the fliers that come out usually advertise items but are rarely advertising a sale. They show the items and the price but most time don't say "on sale".
We used to give out rain checks all the while telling people that it was the normal price and they really didn't need one. They were either confused as to why it was in the flier and not "on sale" or thought that having the rain check meant they would definitely get one. We usually didn't get the stuff back in stock anyway.

How does LVS work if the balancer box fails?

I see a Mac versus PC flame fest coming and I'm not sure why!
But I can get a 64-bit eMachine for a fraction of a new G5!
Can we all agree to disagree?
