~200 20 year old 5.25" floppies -- ~30 still work
5 20 year old 20MB HDDs -- 5 still work
Hardly conclusive, but if you extrapolate it out and blow it way the hell out of context, I'd say that hard drives will last longer than 5.25" floppies. Then again, my storage method for the floppies is something like this - "Wasn't there a sleeve for this sucker? Oh well - I'll just cram it back in the box without a sleeve/cram it in the box with another disk that has a sleeve..."
How about 640x240 (yes, half VGA!) Though I must admit this thing is a brick (weighs in at just under a pound, without the modem and CF card)... But, even with its size and weight, it is by far the most versatile PDA I've used - CF, PCMCIA, IrDA, full serial port, QWERTY keyboard, that nice display (only 4 shade, greyscale, tho) All that and I think it was $45 on eBay, with shipping.
Sorry about all that... I just love this PDA.:)
My personal favorite...

Well, I'd post the source, but the lameness filter refuses to take it - not sure if that says anything... If you have vim installed, check this out:/usr/share/vim/vim61/macros/maze/maze.c
That's where it is on all the installations I've seen - YMMV...
For those without, I'll try to describe it best I can - it's C source code that generates a maze, but hears the kicker - the source itself spells out the word "MAZE" in the whitespace! Really, if you get the chance check it out!
IANAEE, but - how does adding resistance equate to more voltage? Also - just adding a diode would give you positive output with positive input, but no power with negative input. You'd need something a little bit more complicated than just a diode for that.
Wow - that looks a lot better than I'd expected from reading your story.:) I'd envisioned a much more mutilated car that wasn't quite so stream-lined and integrated. One question, though - is it as top-heavy as it appears? It looks like it wouldn't take much from the side to knock it over...
Error in Norton Ghost - "Bad Magic" - never did figure out exactly what that meant, but it only happened when I tried putting too big an image on a drive, so maybe something along that line...
I've heard of those before, especially after the Princess Di accident, they were billed as "anti-paparazi" devices. I always wondered what would happen if one were to put a bunch of these in a room, and fire one flash from a camera...
btw - is there a consistent spelling for paparazi?
I work in IT, and would consider it a terrific day if I could sit down long enough to listen to an entire song. Doing computer work does not neccessarily mean sitting in front of a PC all day doing nothing. Most of my work involves going to every PC to install upgrades, check on hardware/software issues, perform general maintenance, and anything else that needs to be done. Very little of my time is spent at my desk.
From what I know about power systems (everything I know about power systems, I learned from watching Nova...), underground systems get knocked out by lightning just as often as above ground systems. Granted, it will be a little harder for someone to take out a power line with their car when the line is underground...
If you look in the cabinet files with Windows 98, 95, and some other versions (I'm not sure which), you will find a flie called "mini.cab" This is basically a stripped down version of Windows 3.1 that can be run off of a floppy disk with no harddrive.
Let's see -

Any idea if this works for Li-Ion batteries as well? It almost sounds too good to be true...

HO scale trains are DC, by the way. O gauge is AC, except when throwing the whistle switch on the transformer, which sends a shot of DC down the line.

I don't find Massachusetts appealing, nor do I think that Microsoft rules. But that's just my opinion.
Book em Dano
Sure thing! Oh, wait - Dano, not DanCo... never mind... Move along, nothing to see here.
Good, but if MS makes more from the campaign than they lose in fines, how is that assurance that they won't do it again?

Well, if you were my computer science prof and you couldn't understand my code, then my guess would be that it was my code...
So, you're Marxist? =)
Have you tried checking Audio Gal... oh yeah, never mind.

I think the easiest and best "opt-out" would be to turn the PDA off, or remove the wi-fi card...

The spinning display panel, for one...
