Actually what everyone is missing is most minimum wage part-time jobs provide neither vacation nor sick days. Calling in sick is usually met with skepticism, and doing so puts your job at risk. So if you're lucky to have two part time jobs, you can not afford to get sick.
Exactly. This needs to be a constitutional amendment. It will never pass either body of congress. Issa is being sloppy, but at least this is surprisingly well-intentioned for a Republican.
Israel just knows what all of us geniuses here already know: Don't make your defense system available over the public internet, and it won't get hacked. Even Donald Knuth writes his books on a laptop without an internet connection, and it's just a book!
I can sympathize. Once I wanted to ask this woman out on a date, but I did not because I *might* be liable for sexual harrassment. Therefore, I can never ask a woman on a date. I have 30 cats at home instead.
Actually, I don't think Petraeus exercised bad judgement in his choice of mistress. Why did he get caught? The woman went crazy jealous and harassed a family friend. But it was reasonable for Petraeus not to expect this, for she was married with two minor children. However, I would be worried if he had an affair with some attention-whoring second rate attress.
"I said oh well, not like voting matters anyhow due to electoral college bullshit and went home"
I'm so glad you didn't vote. Uneducated people shouldn't vote.
No. Everyone should vote. We have the right to vote, and we are not required to vote according to your "superior" position. The beauty of democracy and freedom is you get to vote for whomever, regardless of the reason. I could easily declare Republicans as "uneducated" and hence unfit to vote. But that would be stupid, right?
Can you describe in detail your home and work comupters, including processor, motherboard, and graphics card? And also say something about their compatability with Linux?
Great post! I have to add one thing, though. You don't need a calculator for higher math. I've taken over 30 college math classes, and the only time I used a calculator was in statistics. The calculator cost around $10.
Why would you want to see someone's college records? Even when I look at transcripts for interviews, I search for the few relevant courses and try to ignore the grades. If you just want proof of the degree, usually it's public record.
Indeed, if it weren't for the unions, we would have the best educational system in the world, and students of all backgrounds would score consistently high on standardized tests. The twelve month school year would have been instituted long ago, and teachers would have rejoiced over having all the extra work without a union to screw things up and request extra money. Utility costs would be way cheaper, because you get a discount when the lights are on 12 months a year instead of 10, ya know, "economies of scale" and shit. Nonsense, indeed.
"Can someone explain how this matters when google is 1) Not the patent office, and 2) the courts blatantly ignore prior art anyway?"
It's not that the courts ignore prior art, but that they defer to the patent office. If the courts have to determine whether a patent is valid, what's the point of having a patent office? The proper place to challenge the validity of a patent is at the Patent Office, first, and then the courts if you think you might get lucky.
Here's one real-life example. I purchased two fax machines--one for myself, and one for my brother who was in high school at the time. Since I lived 2000 miles away, it was a lot easier helping him with geometry homework--he would draw the diagrams and fax them over. Doing geometry over the phone was painful. (Note: This was years before Skype and all that other shit.) I'm sure businesses found faxes useful from the outset.

Does your "secret" method start with a U?
I know why. The UN was dragging their feet finding the WMDs in Iraq, preventing the U.S. from invading. Oh, yeah, but there were no WMD...
OCZ can purchase slaves?
Can you say something about the usage of Ubuntu (or non-usage) throughout Africa since you created Canonical?
Do you think it is correct for Debian to classify lots of GNU documentation as "non-free"?
Exactly. This needs to be a constitutional amendment. It will never pass either body of congress. Issa is being sloppy, but at least this is surprisingly well-intentioned for a Republican.
...eventually, muthafukas wanna get paid!

No, he's a C++ programmer, so he was just being object-oriented: everything in Slashdot is a derived instance of the First Post.
Did Open/Libre-Office turn out to be as revolutionary as you may have expected?
Can you describe in detail your home and work comupters, including processor, motherboard, and graphics card? And also say something about their compatability with Linux?
Do you keep a to-do list on paper, on a computer, or do something else?
"...skilled refers to mental skills, not physical."
What happens if we replaced the whole Lakers roster with Harvard's math department?

Maybe he gets stopped, but doesn't tell you about it because he knows you would not believe him.
This is the best analogy I've ever seen.

Wow. Recents posts suggest Timothy is a Republican. This is the first time I ever noticed a Slahdot moderator being something other than lazy.
