So people trusted this guy to switch 10k machines to linux. Now, how will people look at his face when he is promoting windows OVER linux? Seems there isn't such thing as integrity.
File selector, after 4 years, finally it doesn't suck (and it's even a gnome thing but a gtk one) Spatial nautilus, annoying to me. Good thing i can disable it. Better performance in gnome-vfs. Not more the horrid performance of 2.4. Improved epiphany. Bah. Back to firefox
Maybe for unix and mac, but there is no windows version. The windows version was 2.something, and if you buy a book you get an older 3.1 version as well.
my feeling is that all of the existing toolkits today (Gtk, Qt, XUL and VCL) will become obsolete and we need to start looking at the next generation toolkit system.
Would you please bother to make an example of this? I may be getting wet into web programming for my thesis and would really like a simple example, like reading a table from a database and outputting it into a simple webpage with some simple CSS.
As i use macosx, i already have php and apache built in
All right, i have never used either, but would like someone to summarize what are these 3 languages about.
Perl syntax is obscure and complicated, php seems to be only used for small pages, and asp, well i haven't seen much people talk about it especially here, but i do see it getting used in big sites.
Also, there is jsp/servlets.
I am one of the guys that think that everything has it uses and that there are things in which a tool excels at. So can one explain me what would be a proper use for all these technologies?
Just updated. Nothing broken so far. Waiting to see if they fixed my top bug, which is that finder often hits 100% cpu use without doing nothing and i have to kill -9 it. Don't know what triggers it, but probably is related to having special view options like keep arranged by name, or something weird when receiving files over amsn. I reported the bug, but my.mac trial expired so i dont longer have access.
Hey devs! How about file send and receive and display pictures for all protocols, please? Pretty please?

However, since then Sun has done their homework and made Swing fast (indistinguishable from native, for the most part),
Swing is, and always will be, a running dog. Try SWT. Real, native interfaces, done via jni.
Bytes? You newbie! Back in the day, we only had a few bits to work on
Who knows, maybe one day we could get our macs without an OS. They are a hardware company after all.
Apple, are you listening?
Where's the BSD is dying troll post, renamed to match the X situation, when you need it?
Installing for windows. The person knows how to get to the store, fork cask, go home, and put the cd in and click next, next, i agree, finish.
You said easier.
So it seems that "mozilla browser" and "mozilla mail" is delayed to 2,0

Not much else. Back to kde for me
Dude, that article is dated 2001, when qt 2.0 was around
On my newspaper, i saw an article that told that in the year 2003, people watched an average of 15 minutes more than the last year

Which IS the next gen toolkit?
3) Early versions of Windows used NetBIOS, which is no good for the routed world.
I think you meant NetBEUI
Remember when your OS came in 5 1/4 disks?
And now, some of then come in DVD?
It's scary. Software programs will get so big that to a point humans won't be able to develop them.
Now, a decent game takes near 3 years to develop, when those old commander keen games were done in 3 months
Do you mean RealBasic?
Red Hat: Doesn't include MP3
Debian: Outdated
Gentoo: Takes to long to compile
SuSE: Now we need a new thing to complain about SuSE.
How about that Gecko think, I never liked him any way.
I will try. How about the fact that you can't download evaluation isos? Maybe we should have a SuDoRa or something.

It's still beyond me why people even bother giving MySQL the time of day when the incomparably superior Postgres is available under GPL.
PostgreSQL isn't GPL, it is BSD-licensed.
What is it that makes MySQL so much more popular than Postgres? It sure isn't features.
A windows version
Strange, i don't see Al Gore there!
There is no anti spam technology that actually works. Not even whitelisting, because those viruses fake email addresses.
Maybe whitelisting with custom mail headers to prove identity
You can get cd's on the newspaper on even in street corners. Price is like 0.5-1$
Sometimes you get a "mp3 cd", so audiophiles can notice the decrease in quality
