I'm actually a 12-year-old with too much spare time. I've spent countless amounts of time sitting at my desk.
(if you've ever heard what my system is, you'd see that it's heavily limited by the parental amount of dough) (hint: the video card is worth $66. canadian)
Ehhh, not everyone my age (12) is that good with computers. I recently had a friend ask me how to type roman numerals. I've also heard of people my age diagnosing a computer problem as "maybe you haven't downloaded the correct USB drivers for your hard drive".
Trust me, as a member of the age group, many of us just run Kazaa (not Lite), ICQ, AIM, YIM and MSN (not trillian, just all 4 at once) with only 64MB of RAM.
Same at my school, 60hz (I run 85hz here, the difference is almost painful), Pentium MMXs with like 32MB of RAM. Windows 98, hooked up to a Novell server that crashes daily.
Whenever we go in there for research (or anything on the internet), I remind myself to bring my KNOPPIX cd tomorrow.
Ah, thank you. It only works with/q but now that I think of it, the MS-DOS trick I spoke of only worked when the drive was formatted without the "full format" switch, whatever it was. The format command just had a different default.
But I want to know, HOW can I do this? Is there any free software that would let me read an HD after it's been reformatted?
Actually, this reminds me of something I remember from playing with a 386 I have (well actually I destroyed it, but I still have the parts). When running a simple format c: from MS-DOS, it doesn't fully reformat, it leaves some files that can somehow be recovered, via a simple format switch. I wonder if that still works, with, say, the Win98 format tool.
BAH! That's the lazy way. The proper way is to wire it up to an old 386 (not inside the case, get a long cable and put it a foot or 2 away), do something intensive on it (i.e. zeroing the whole drive), and then take your sledge, and BAM! I've always wondered what would happen if you did that.
(I happen to have a 6.4GB drive sitting in my computer right now. I can't wait till the day I get a new HD and move the currently-primary 20GB down to backup duty, and SMASH that old Fireball)
Hey, I find the trolls quite interesting. There's an unlimited number of ways to hide a goatse link. And then there's the PC trolls on macslash who are so damn funny. i.e. the traditional one-button mouse flame, which completely ignores the well-known fact that unless you get a system from Alienware or other such company (or a handbuilt box), the original mouse is ALWAYS crap, and ALWAYS replaced.
Oh jesus, I know what you mean. I got a LaserJet III from a friend. Apparently it was just retired from where she works recently. Took 2 people to move it up from the basement and into the van. We dropped it off at some local computer place.
My internet connection is getting hammered, causing my ping to jump up to around 800. Jesus. I would have liked some karma, sacrificing my connection like that. But no. No, no. Here I am sitting with no ability to play games over the internet, and only "Positive" karma.
If you want the files, I'm taking them down in just over an hour, at 8PM EST.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get anything via Kazaa Lite, and Shareaza hasn't found anything yet, nor has it found more than one person to connect to. Good thing the.Mac servers are clearing up. I'm getting 35kB/s anyways, so I guess I'm fine.
It could very well be. I don't have the URL anymore though, so unfortunately, the kiddies won't be able to wear goatse shirts when they go back to school. Also available is a goatse frisbee. yay!
This amazes me. The individual channels thing, I've been doing for a long, long time, with my (canadian) Starchoice dish and TechTV, and for PPV events? I'm pretty sure us Canadians, even the basic cable users, can just order a single pay per view event.
Is it actually true that you can't order a single PPV event? I'm baffled. Flabbergasted. Snamboozled.
Nah, I've seen one before. In fact, it was a link to a cafepress shop with goatse t-shirts. Shirts of a big, gaping, asshole. Wonder what'd happen if you wore one of THOSE to work.
At its core, yes. However good a Picasso piece may be, it is not appropriate for every situation. More, it is not appropriate for every person, and just because it's appropriate for you doesn't mean you should push others to purchase Picasso works.
+1, Insightful, man! That was damn well said, if this were K5, I'd be wearing that in my sig.
There's a saying out there:
Mac for productivity,
Linux (sometimes Unix) for Stability
Windows for Solitaire
The Windows part is more of an exageration, but it is true that it only outshines the others in gaming. Linux is not the most productive, and a Mac shouldn't be used for gaming. There is no one OS.
It's a Sapphire Radeon 7000 64MB.
Remember, I said UTDemo, not UT2003Demo. UT2003 won't run at all.

KNOPPIX is wonderful, ain't it?
this is about as plausible as Fred Phelps marching for gay rights.

Or something. I'll try it, thanks.

I wonder why they chose St. Lawrence College. It'd be cooler at Queen's University, especially since my school is ON the Queen's campus.
YAY! I live in Kingston! YAY! Now I can go downtown and surf! YAY!
Oh, wait. Crap. I don't have an 802.11b card, and I killed my laptop's screen and keyboard. Well, that's a bitch.
Would have been nice, checking my e-mail down at confederation park.
Hoo-hoo, that's good. I've gotta start using that myself.

I find it all quite comical.

(that should have been "still getting pretty good transfer rates")
transfer rates are down to 7.5kbytes/sec, which is an indication one of us is getting a LOT of traffic.
teaser.mov
actone.mov
acttwo.mov
actthree.mov
tag.mov
I'm still downloading the files, but they should be up soon. I'm still pretty good transfer rates, and the first part is already complete.
(this is going to be the most violent slashdotting EVER)
Who else remembers wehavethewayout.com? The anti-Unix site that was hosted on Unix?
/me puts his flame-retardant suit on
we run nothing but microsoft software on it?
It might be that bobgoatse one. Could have been censored, who knows.
OK, that makes a bit of sense. I was really wondering, since I was seeing all this stuff about PPV events.
