Commercial lines have very few restrictions, so im almost 100% sure this would be allowed. With residential lines there are so many restrictions it's crazy.
Yea but will will Joe Smith down the road say if he can't start doing something the RIAA won't let him. He'll lose trust in Microsoft, and the market would be open to new ideas like... linux.
Oh yea, and i suppose the government controlling everything is better than Microsoft controlling everything. Thanks, but i'd rather have Microsoft controlling everything.
It's not going to happen... stop worrying. Microsoft would have to take control of every motherboard, chip, and card manufacturer to do that. Can you say "monopoly?" Don't you think it'd be a little obvious?
Even if i did, methinks linux users are smarter than to insall it:)

Most users haven't a clue what it is, that is the problem. It's analagous to someone presenting a question to you in giberish, then offering you to choose a or b. How would you expect average users to know anything about it?
What you're saying is very reasonable, BUT gator relies on users not know what it does. So it is more like if you had a magazine delivered to your house, but at your doorsetep someone changed the ads without you knowing it, because you had agreed to it without ever knowing.
The problem is that the way it's desgined is that someone has to be in charge of the system, in order to maintain integrity. Then the problem is that who should be able to claim control, and who is watching over them?
What would you expect when you put Lucas in charge of it? The guy can ruin everything, can't he...

It's too late to plug the analog hole. The technology is there, there are many manufacturers, and it isn't going away. They can't even protect digital media, how would they do it for an analog medium?
So i guess gods BUY all their software or run something free like linux... i wonder if Allah checks slashdot?
Ok stupid question, of course Allah checks slashdot.

This isnt a new technology.
Use raster data for your contact information, and where it can't be done (like for DNS entries) use sites like myprivacy.ca .
ahahahahahahahaha ... that's the funniest thing i've seen in a long time.
$20 Billion ... what the hell are they spending $20B on a mission to mars for? Think of how $20B could be spent to help the russion people.
Invest in a good power supply.

$200,000 from him if you can run linux on it, but them MS will probably pay you $400,000 to keep it hush.
If you could push a button and kill the person without getting caught, would you do it for a million dollars?'
Why is that sick? Who wouldn't?
/.ers: we should pool our resources and setup a fund to put hits out on people like this.

There wasn't a fix, and so it had to be kept hush :o
But didn't MS also say that that was only for two years, then that's it?
The part about in collabotation with Microsoft is a bit worrysome :\ Although, i don't really know much about this.

Yes. Yes he did. I will judge who i want, how i want. I judge you as someone i don't like, so shut up.
I don't think the south african government should be in control of anything right now. They have a lot of fixing to do.
This has been a problem since counter-strike came out. How long did it take them to figure this out!
