Even if you telecommute, you still need to see people face to face once in a while so you can't live *too* far away from your business, clients, etc. Until, of course, we have holographic onferencing or something:)
Everyone i know has broadband (i live in Toronto) but it's all from the same ISP (Rogers) and sometimes Bell Canada. Prices are not that much better than anywhere else, service sucks ass (but bad service is still probably the best service in north america,) and soon bandwidth is going down to something insane like 256Kbts downstream with monthly transfer caps.
I totally understand how porn makes all the money it does, but frankly i don't know how people are so stupid that they fall for internet scams or buy products through "special deals" *exclusively* for them and 20,000,000 other people. It's really sad when you think about it.
This was an "ask slashdot" question just a few weeks ago. I think that your ideas belong to you and no one else, but as soon as you are working on solution xyz with 2 other people, solution xyz belongs to no one but the company because it is a collective solution. Also, if a company gives you time and money to research solution xyz, the company should get the solution not you.
The simple fact of e-publishing is that it costs money. You can't publish a book wihout people buying them, and likewise you cant publish a web page without getting money from somewhere. We now know that most web advertising is a flop, so subscriptions seem unavoidable.
But if i read 10 news sites a day, i dont want to pay even $4 for each one because that sure adds up. If you can think of a solution please let me know, cus there is money to be made there.
Perhaps microsoft has a special forces division and is going after people who maintain linux.

We do have more than one paper you know and this one isn't like our official paper :s
So who cares...
Trade freedom for security, and you'll get neither. If only people would understand.
I don't even use any more than 8 gigs at once on my hard drive. I don't need more storage! What i need is more performance!

Tomshardware, Anandtech, Hardocp ... perhaps they will just be more careful what benchmark programs they use.

I don't think i will consider waterloo as a place to go anymore :(
Digger is the best game ever.
Well i'd rather have a R8500. It outperforms the 9000pro, and it's only ~$10 more expensive. I think ATI really missed on this card.
The difference is that a windows installation decays a huge amount as soon as the installation is complete.
LOL. How ironic.
Isn't public key encryption basically security through really extreme obscurity?
Pretty lame slashback tonight if you ask me. Well no one asked me so i'll shut up now.
