We have a database where one of the tables contains more than 100 million rows. Still, the entire database is less than 16GB. And it is whopping fast as well (Mysql with innodb tablestructure)
So I get modded down so hard that only smoke remains for critizing linux and this kind of pathetic, bleeding heart nonsense gets modded up to 4 (insightful)?!
The reason for that is that the concept of doubling the circuitry is a simplified explanation - some of the hardware can be shared. Really, they're just going to be feeding two instructions through in parallel, so for example, you only need to go through one power hungry bus cycle to get the data. You only need to run the dispatch unit once per two instructions, etc.
So is this trick repeatable? I mean, if you would not double but quadruple the bits, would this mean even more energy savings?
can assure you she has no more than a B
Mod this up as +5 informative!
If I had mod points I'd mod you up +5 (funny).
I really laughed my pants off. Rest assured, I added you to my list of friends.
Thanks buddy.

I am the author of the creatine faq. Believe me, the stuff works. And yes, it makes you smell funny. But only if taken in very large quantities.

This sucks big time.
Why should I be delighted about this? It's just a simple app, nothing fancy.
You're a math major aren't you?
Yeah, but don't you think those kids prefer the gore of doom III?
You're damn right, but nevertheless will get modded down. If I had any mod points, you would get mine though.
I'll make an obviously futile attempt to preserve the points of this comment: "perl doesn't suck as much on linux as it does on windows".

Mark.
I'll bet Bill Gates has nightmares about this stuff!!!
You must be joking.
Really.
I've got nothing to say. Just wanted to troll a bit.
Did you know my uncle is a transvestite? His wife didn't.
Moron. I and the rest of the civilized slashdot community will not buy new motherboards unless the are open source and blessed by the Great Stallman.

If you go and rob a store and then brag about how you did it at the bar, you're gonna get caught.
I agree. I once robbed a girl of her cherry and bragged about at the bar. You won't believe how I was punished for that.
Doesn't run doom III though.
Excuse my ignorance, but why is the dec alpha so special? Isn't it just another general purpose processor?
