Anyone know how I can replace my PowerBook's kernel panics with the death chimes of my old Mac?
Many children (young and old) treat their game discs with a bit less respect than they should sometimes. Who wants to buy a new copy everytime your copy starts skipping or fails?
Won't you please think about the children!?
Bittorrent + http://slr.tzo.com:9696/ = EastEnders. Daily episodes, classics and specials.
Mind you, (as someone in the US) I'd gladly pay the BBC to get access. But since they don't do that now, it's not stopping me from keeping up on things in Walford.
" North Korea and Iran don't have delivery systems that can reach the US" - Are you sure? The CIA thinks so, at least in North Korea's case. But I don't know where they'd get a wacky idea like that...

"any employee, friend-of-employee, visitor, contractor, or vendor found onsite using, carrying, or possessing a cellular phone with a camera will be immediately terminated" - Whoah! So they will terminate your friend if they have a mobile phone with a camera...that's pretty severe!
Rip out the Firefox artwork indeed! I was expecting a really cool looking theme straight from the movie when they changed the name.
Then again, I was disappointed when Camino was announced and it didn't have a UI anything like the layout of a Camino. And let's not even get started on Firebird...
" Did you hear about the game where you have to sing about movies with Sooners in them that deal with cooking potatoes?
It's called movieoke-Okie-gnocchi-karaoke."

Servo and Crooow would be proud!
And this is almost on topic, but I got a chuckle at the time, so I figured I'd pass it on.
One day, in a fit of boredom, I decided to install the PC version of Connectix Virtual GameStation INSIDE a Virtual PC session on my Mac. Nevermind the fact that I had the Mac version of VGS installed, I was just curious to see what happened when I installed an emulator inside an emulator.
The installer launched and I laughed and was impressed at the same time. A dialog box popped up and more or less asked me if I was serious in a very humorous way. As Connectix had written both products, they took the time to write a line into the Windows VGS installer that, should it detect that it is being installed inside a Virtual PC to tell the operator to basically put down their crackpipe.
Now, with Microsoft making both the emulator and the "supported" operating systems within, I doubt we'll see any of this sense of humor (or logic checking).
"the results augur well for Apple G5 performance in technical and scientific computing environments and for playing games."
Right.. because of these tests every pc game developer is now going to make a port to MAC OS of all the games they are developing..:)
No. Not exactly. But it'll will make the porting that much faster for houses like Aspyr and it will offer another high quality, high speed platform from which to produce games (for multiple platforms) or produce content for those games. Either way. It's a good thing.:)
Incidentally, Apple has been shipping Dual Processor Macs for over 8 years.
I don't know that it was the first, but the Power Mac 9500/180MP featured dual 180MHz 604 CPUs.
According to IGN anyhow... To quote -
Online news sites are reporting that the spring 2003 issue of Electronic Design Chain, an electronics trade magazine, features PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi on the cover, and also contains very surprising news about the Playstation 3.
According to the reports, Kutaragi mentions that final production of the "Cell" chip, originally thought to be used in the PlayStation 3, may not be ready until 2007. He also confirms that the CPU in the PlayStation 3 will in fact not be the Cell processor, contrary to earlier reports.
With a targeted PlayStation 3 launch in 2005/2006, delayed production of the Cell processor may have caused Sony to find a different solution for their next-generation console.
Not a joke... I don't know anyone that has experienced "anal leakage," their term, from eating "normal" potato chips.
And accurate... Mod Up Please!

"Or "cWAP" for short." - Wow, I'm still guessing if you were serious about that name or not. C-W-A-P? IF true, that's just vewwy vewwy funny.
And the Annual Troll Competition is in full swing. The results aren't in yet, but Anonymous Coward seems to be favored to clean up this year!

Well, in that case, I wouldn't recommend that you use the CD drive in your car to restore your backed up data. Just a thought...
"This is just more anti-DSL FUD" - No No No. FUD, if you'd read the book, stood for F****ed up DUCK. This would be FUP as it was pigeon based.
Ditto! Haven't found an earbud that sound as good as the E-888s, particularly on the iPod.

Does this mean that they contact you anually to update the expiration date of record on the credit card that you used to preorder the product???
"This is kinda like saying it would not be hard to port Internet Explorer to DOS."
-
Huh? I remember running IE on WinDOS for years. It still does (95, 98, 98SE, ME)
Oh...You meant DOS without the silly get up! My bad.

What stupid joke will be made Nextel?
"This will give you just enough to load all of the Star Trek episodes from all series (STTOS,STTNG, STDS9,STVOY & STENT). "
What?! There's no room for Star Trek The Animated Series? Forget it. Not interested...

I will assume it was a typo and he meant WAP (Wireless Access Point)... Figured I would give him the benefit of the doubt.
