Corporations don't pay taxes, they collect taxes. Presumably every dollar they don't pay in taxes gives consumers cheaper products and their employees higher salaries. And, yes, their executives and shareholders more money also.
The idea that you are going to somehow save the world by taxing people and corporations more is a silly notion that only warps the system to the benefit of those that have enough money and accountants to figure out how to avoid paying taxes.
Microsoft and others that find ways to not pay taxes just shows us that the income tax is pretty much immoral and actually punishes the middle and lower classes. Hopefully the system will break and the income tax as we know it will go away before my daughter has to continue to pay for the looters of the world that fleece the producers of world via taxes with the promise of solving the worlds problems.
People solve problems, not governments, if only they let the people keep their resources.
My original yellow castle is still at my parents house. I got it for my birthday and still remember the big deal that was made about it because it cost *gasp* $40. I played with it all the time. Now my 6-year old daughter plays with it when she visits grandma and grandpa.
Funny. Seems to me that defense is one of the top priorities, according to the constitution. I didn't see anything about education in that document so that is supposed to be left up to the states.
Stop paying for supplies. When the parents learn about it they should complain to the administration and there should be a review to determine why basic supplies are not being purchased.
My company doesn't expect me to buy my own supplies for the work I do. Teachers should not be expected to buy supplies.
The rich people Bush calls his "base" ("the haves, and the have mores")
Of course you realize that this quote, taken from "Fahrenheit 911" I assume, was taken out of context from a speech given at a traditional election year 'roast' where both candidates attend, yes, Al Gore was also there, and proceed to lampoon themselves while the audience goes 'ha ha' and 'hee hee'. See, it was self parody, Bush was joking about himself as other people would joke about him.
When you actually take the time to research and go beyond the propaganda and deceit you can really find out a lot of interesting things.
I watched a couple parents fond of Michael Moore talking with their children about he was so wonderful and really found out the truth about those evil and stupid Bush people. It made me want to throw up. Not because of Bush, but because they were teaching their children to hate people based on some fat head lying son of a bitch. They didn't believe him because it was true, they believed it because they hate Bush. Can you imagine a 9 year old saying, "I hate Bush." Why should a 9 year old hate anything.
Anyway, sorry about the rant.
Maybe you should get some stories and information from both side and try to reconcile the differences.
Saying you can't afford a $1300 iMac versus a $800 shitbox is meaningless. I have always hated that position.
[whine] I can't afford a Mac like all you rich people. They are so expensive. I have to subsist on bread and water and use stone tablets. [/whine]
Well, deal with it. Obviously you have some means of income otherwise you wouldn't have the ability to post to Slashdot.
Why don't you look on eBay or look into refurbished equipment or save an extra $1 a day for year instead of towing the same old 'I can't afford it.' line.
I apologize if there is some horrible reason why you can't afford an iMac but I find that most people who state that are either envious or self loathing.
I can't afford a VW Phaeton but I don't go around whining about it. Wait a minute . . .
The subscription remains in effect if your DVR needs to be repaired or replaced due to a malfunction (see manufacturer warranty details). Because a product lifetime subscription is linked to a particular DVR, it cannot be transferred to any other DVR (unless the DVR is replaced due to a malfunction covered by the manufacturer's warranty).

Yeah, I've never watched a movie twice or kept a magazine article or read a book again. In fact I only listen to music once and then throw it away.

Hey!!!! (guy two cubes down)
Come here often?
Would the Apple store and the iTunes Music store be considered successful?
Yes, this would explain the horrible sales figures for the Harry Potter books.

Later.
Placing something in plain site only encourages people to use it.
I call bullshit.

Your point is moot.

Lifetime TiVO service is $299. If you purchase that it will never cost more.
