    Actually, most of the workstations of the animators are linux.

    The animation director's is a dual 2ghz xeon running limux. He told me so. He also told me they'd be changing in a few years, but wouldn't tell me what to :(

    192 Kbps mp3s sound as good as i need em to, I can't imagine needing more than that.

    I was also under the impression that Ogg Vorbis encoded ones sounded better at slightly lower bitrates. Should be a non-issue IMHO.

    What a convoluted way to say I agree.

    I haven't been able to understand this from the mailscanner page (yet), but what sort of F-prot do you need to integrate with mailscanner?

    The linux workstation edition?

    The full blown mail server scanner seems to be overkill, as it should do the job by itself.

    Not really.

    Only to audiophiles who use worthless and unquantifiable terms like "warmth" and "roundness".

    A good quality cd in a good quality system is more than adequate for any normal human being who doesn't base their life's worth on the amount of vacuum (sp) tubes in their living room.

    Or, no-one could care less. If it doesn't get downloaded, installed, etc, on a lot of computers, the social effects are going to be pretty insignificant.

    Most of the people I've met from there are just big kids, although I haven't had a chance to see them work. Dylan for example, reminded me of a few of my fith grade classmates.

    Wish I was talented enough to work there.

    Nothing personal, but you pay 10,000 yen for 128kbps, but you think something that increases the bandwidth by a power of 3 (or 6 or whatever) should only cost you 5,000 more a month?

    First hey need to have more bandwidth, without a serious infrastructure, 14.4 Mbits won't mean shit, if the rest of the network is still slow.

    Really, there's barely enough to go round now, what happens when all these people start wanting real time video calls, etc?
