Ouch, I have to admit i'm having trouble using the software, (just tried it while you mentioned it) I'm not sure if its my DVD decoding software or what. But anyways check out the forums at http://www.thegreenbutton.com they have a dvrms to wm9 converter. But it looks like it is just using windows media encoder so you could download that, and batch encode nightly.
Isn't this hacking now mostly dead with the new tivos out?
The older tivos were very hackable I dont know how successfull extracting the tv shows ever was. But now tivo has a repuatation for being hackable, media center has awsome plugin support, they show up in your main menu and you can use the applications with full remote control functionality. Check out http://www.customhomecontrol.com they have a media center plugin that you can control your house from.
Frankly I dont have the time to wait for directivo menus to draw... Ugh soo slow, I have a media center and a tivo in the house. Jumping through commercials and navigating through recorded tv is sooo much faster on the mce then the tivo.
I will always support Tivo in the Tivo vs. MCE case for the soul reason of giving M$ my business... Q.Tivo does not let you take your shows with you on your laptop. The cure for cancer is nice but can I please take the cure with me on the road?
This is not an article about Best Buy practices. Its about how companies are coping with "Demon" customers. We have a "demon" customer that is slamming our tech support with questions unrelated to her service, but they will argue about the tie in and we need to keep our relationship. Its tough when people are trying to exploit your weaknessess. When the time it takes to patch the holes is time taken away from serving those who deserve it.
If you can change the way hold works and give them a separate line plug them into HAL. It will give them the option of voice command over their music. All you need is a PC with a good voice modem and HAL (one pc per line). http://www.automatedliving.com/products_dm c.shtml
Yea, when I first played doom it was really great the first day but after that I started to feel like it was a step forward in 3d but a step backwards in overal appearance. Maybe it was just because my hardware wasn't up to the cause, but I renember being upset thinking that the days of doom are gone and here is this square boxen quake with sharp cornered shoulders... blegh. But technology has mostly caught up with sprite animation, however I still wonder what it would be like to have a fully sprite animated game again. Take the 3 models and pump out the sprites with full polygon power.
At CES Bill hinted that they were working on anti-virus software but implied it would be a part of the operating system. Could you imagine the crowd turning on him if he said you have to buy one product from microsoft to run your machine and another product to secure it?
Chick games, but fun. I got these games for the wife but Nemo was really fun to watch and pick up the controller at difficult portions. Frankly it was fun reliving the movie. Havn't seen haunted mansion, and looks like the game is nothing like the movie but its also a fun game. They are both puzzle/adventure games. Simple to play, decent graphics, a hell of alot less buggy then morrowind. I wouldn't mind recomending them at all.
Indeed, one thing I learned was to always ask for their name, course, the smart a-holes will give you a bunk name but if they do there is at least a manager or coworker will catch them.
Amen. Its one thing to shoot the messenger but when your message is "IF I SEE YOU ON THE STREET I WILL KILL YOU" your have to lop off some heads or they will think you are kidding.
I was really nice when I called in the first two times. The first time they said they had to transfer me to another department to cancel my account. I asked why and he just said it was setup weird (buying the phone from radioshack and calling in to activate your service must be pretty damn weird). He then asked if he could do anything to keep me as a subscriber, we went through the options, I let him finish and said no. When he said he was going to transfer me he made a click and a dial tone. Fishy... I call back the next day (took me a day to cool down) and we went through the same hoops but he was not going to transfer me but he did need for me to hold while he cancelled the acount, click! dumped again!
A week later (took me a while longer to calm down) I had my wife call, (still livid). The started the same thing put on hold. pick up the line, talk them into long distance for the home phone, put them back on hold, and hung the hell up. Yes the third time, hung up on. She called back (bless her heart) when she talked to the rep they wanted to transfer her and I shouted out "DO NOT TRANSFER US, JUST CANCEL THE ACCOUNT". It worked, the wife continued to play good cop and the rpe decided she did not need to transfer the call.
3/4 calls result in a hangup, and the 4th one was suspicously going that directoin. Who's the fodder now?
Its a matter of convinience. tinfoils belive that once they tie a primary key that is easily accessable that the worlds databases will be silly stringed together to retreive every possible bit of information about you. Something seemingly impossible before RFID-Day but suddenly readily avalable. "Driving a little fast there eh? Trying to run away from that bully that broke your nose the summer of 95'?"
I was thinking that warcraft had done the best job at making people. In refference I would compare the final fantasy movie, and one of the animatrix scenes, with those in mind the warcraft 3 cutscenes are personally the best models I have seen. Of course this renerding in realtime is impossible currently, but I think it proves that it is going to be the future. So, engineers should keep hacking away at making a good humanoid, just understand that its a new generation and if you screw it up like todays humanoids its going to look like crap. I like to compare it to 3d vs sprite gaming. Frankly I was dissapointed pretty with quake, but now I would deem them acceptable.
Frankly its just xbox holding the developers accountable. Bugs have been around longer then software if you let someone patch you WILL get buggier games in the future. It comes down to numbers, we can add x feature for $3,000 and make the game this much better or we can test it all over again and MAYBE we will find something to fix. If they can patch after shipment they will just let the gamers do the testing.
MCE has community.

There are more sites like this as well.

I had no idea.
I thought that level of hacking died with series 1.

There are plugins for media center that convert the heavy dvrms into wm9.

I.A."Not interested in your microsoft lifestyle."

Intentional damage is not covered under your warranty. Returning a product intentionally damaged is fraud.
The drink that gets me through many cold code nights. I'll come down ride the monster rail!

Consider 5 times quieter then an electric weedwacker.
You should go try puzzle pirates. I subscribed for a while but didn't have enough time to justify the monthly. No headache trial signup, go try it.

Indeed, imagine if NASA had the freedom to improve the internet. We could finally have those floating wifi balloons everyone is dreaming about.
Dont know about a nemo before the movie, but perhaps I should say "finding nemo"

Someone needs to shut the fuck up and call Sprint.
