Aggreed! I purchased a Motherboard made by Soyo about 2 years ago. I paid about $150 US dollars for it. The board was a dud, it lasted me about 7 months. I still have my PII Acer that I bought 4 years ago and it is running strong! I can understand the CDRW dilema too! I bought one of those "Cheapy" $50 drives, I have had nothing but problems. Some of my CD-Roms will not work in it. The best thing to do is to some research on pricing and quality. http://www.pricewatch.com
and http://www.consumerreports.org
Are they going to make a "Force-Feedback" router? Like when you go to a WAREZ site to download some MS Software, the router vibrates
and brings down the house. That would be entertaining, except for a lot of people would be homeless!
I think it is the responsiblity of the parent to educate their children on what the difference is between killing some person or character in a game, with all its blood and gore, and killing some person for real. So when a child see's an advertisment for GTA and they see someone kill some guy and steal the ambulance , they have some idea that it is make believe.
Of course, the childs age will make a difference in his/hers understanding!
Good point, but it is fact that you can freeze some species of frog.
That is where the researchers come in to play. If they could find a
way to harness this potential (as you point out for long term), it could prove quite useful.
Anyhow, here are couple links about frogs that can freeze and survive.
frogs 1 frogs 2
I saw an interesting show on the Discovery channel about 3 months ago.
On the show, researchers put a living frog in the freezer. After a day,
they took the frozen frog out and let it "thaw" out. I was amazed
to see that the frogs heart started to beat again(after an hour or so).
After several hours it was moving around again! I think if researches
could harness this wonder, we may have the potential to "really"
utilize cryogenics for something useful (i.e space exploration?)
and not for freezing people that are already dead!
Some users of the mosquito-repelling program have reported headaches after long periods spent in front of a computer emitting the bug-repelling high-pitched whine.
Strange, and here I thought it was those long periods of playing Counter-Strike on my computer!
If you OWN something, it's YOURS. Not only do you NOT have the right to take away people's freedom, but you also have no right to even KNOW what people do with their property.
I'll give you a quick lesson in right & wrong:
RIGHT: You decide to paint your car YOU OWN, a color other than what it was manufactured.
WRONG: You LEASE (or steal) a car, and repaint it without the owner's permission.
I think you missed the point:
RIGHT: You buy a PS2 that you now own, and decide to put a mod chip in.
WRONG: You buy a PS2 from a local dealer, who charges you a fat fee to install a mod chip in your new PS2 (He profits from this activity).
I agree with your statement, however, a starting point would be necessary for the A.I..
Think about it. You/I have spent your life reading, writing, learning. You/I had a starting point. You/I had to study spelling words over and over to remember them. You/I had figure out what made sense, when creating sentences.
So, A.I. would need to "figure out" what to say, but the words it "says" who have to come from some knowledge base. Or it would have to learn them and store the words in memory.
SQL-92 has much better syntax than SQL-89. I just wish more of it was implemented. MS SQL- Server actually does a better job of it than even Oracle. Compare
Select A.*
From A,B
Where A.MayorName is not null
and A.CityID = B.CityID
and B.TaxRate > 5
vs.
Select A.*
From A JOIN B
ON (A.CityID = B.CityID)
Where A.MayorName is not null
and B.TaxRate > 5
The major difference is that the join is explicityly removed from the filtering done in the where cluase. This makes queries much easier to read. Queries can get extreamly complex and when you have something like 6 joins you will soon appreciate the new syntax.
This book sounds interesting so I will be checking it out!

If I was going to buy from the web, I would definetely check out
PriceWatch
However, I would look to someplace like Fry's Electronics before I look to the web. You can find steals at Fry's. For example, Fry's had an ECS Motherboard and AMD Athlon XP 1700 CPU for only $129 US dollars. I bet you will not find a combo price that low on the web!
Rocco
Great news, I can just see Jar Jar in Episode IV: A New Hope . . . . "Me sa Jar Jar Binks" 'pause' "Whos sa you be?" 'enter Darth Vader' "Me sa Darth Vader, Me sa get rid of you once and for all!!!"
I hope this is how it turns out
If cost is an issue for XP, why dont people just by the OEM versions. All you have to do is go to your local Fry's Electronics, buy a small piece of hardware, and presto your eligable to by an OEM version.
At last recall the OEM Home Edition is about 89 - 99 US dollars and the OEM Professional Edition is about 150 US dollars. This is about half the cost of the full Non OEM products!
The military technology has greatly surpassed that of the rest of the world!
A thought to ponder though. If servers on the web, including government agencies, can get hacked. Who's to say these smart RC aircrafts are not prone to the same vulnerability?
Just a thought!
Great, all we need is another online game to suck the life from my friends (who by the way, already spend 15 hours a day playing Everquest). Somebody unplug me, I am tired of living in this matrix (I mean world)!
"I firmly believe that software should be held accountable to liability laws and consumer rights laws"
What, are you on crack. We already have people suing burger joints cause they are 4 year olds and cant handle their coffee. So every time that someone gets a Virus of some kind, they get to sue or hold MS accountable?
Your nuts.
I cant wait to see the making of Leah Tompson's huge HOOTERS in the second Movie. "Mom . . . your so . . . BIG!", said Marty McFly.

I can see it now . . . Young scientist gets frosbite on his "Willy" while pleasuring himself to www.HotBabes.com.

How can you say it looks like crap?
This is a cool modification!
