I think the collapse of the middle class has a lot to do with obesity. Where do we get your rewards? Sex, food, and the belief that your life is progressing. With incomes stagnant for decades, and ever-increasing pressures to produce more or GTFO, and then seeing the economy implode as it hasn't in generations, people are turning to food. What kind of food? The cheap, gratifying kind.

Either way I'd quite like $5000 for work I did last year.
By "less than $5000" they don't mean "most make about $5000." A handful make $5000, a bunch make $500, the rest make $5 to $50. So enjoy the juicy hamburger you just bought with your earnings from last year.
We're close to exponential runaway on government spending (borrowing more, and more often). The economy is barely moving despite drenching it in money, jobs are part-time with no benefits, we jail more people than China, the government plainly tramples over all our civil rights, oil is running out, tax law is a joke, IP law is a joke, immigration law is a joke, H1B visas are a joke...
The economy is barely moving because we're clawing our way back from the worst recession in generations, and the government thinks its job is to munch popcorn while the private sector struggles. Far too little has been spent in stimulus thanks to the shrieks of the far right. Look at Europe and see how "well" austerity's working.
That assumes you have a regular bank account to which funds can be transferred. Some people don't have one and need to get paid somehow. But the for fee debit card thing is simply evil.
Unlike Stephen King, whose name is attached to everything, i.e. "Stephen King's The Tommyknockers" etc. Matheson was more low key. On the other hand, I am Legend must've set some record for the number of movie versions.
So these guys are gambling they'll never have a hardware failure? Where would they go for replacement parts? Is there a shed in back of HP with a bunch of NOS DEC stuff?
In the 70s, my dad brought home the manual for the 9825 desktop computer, and it had nifty BASIC tutorials. My school didn't have any computers, so I wrote programs on paper for fun.
DSPs have done sound modeling for years. So is the GPU the new DSP? Or is it simply cheaper because your desktop machine already has a GPU, whereas it may not have a DSP?
Who went to prison for the Ford Pinto, Corvair or cars with rigid steering columns?

Ethanol has less energy per unit volume than gasoline so yes, your mileage goes down.
Don't bother... they're here.

Thorium has already been "seriously explored." How about a turnkey reactor design?

And a missing period gets you in a lot of trouble.

So, no Barbie, McDonald's, Transformers? Praise be!
Balloon is too high for someone to receive a WiFi signal at ground level.
They've already been on the bus.

The designs are in English.
Fine, you knuckleheads want to claim ownership? How about some wrongful death suits?

1. Dig trench
2. Dump infected computers in trench
3. Shoot computers with machine guns
4. Cover computers with dirt
Problem solved.
Open up that checkbook, Bill.
Sounds like that Tom Lehrer song...
