Would someone like to post list of FOSS projects that have been killed due to litigation, or even threat of litigation. I assume this list must be quite lengthy given the amount slashdotters bang on about it.

But O'Connor adds that a series of mechanical breaks will activate should there be a sudden loss of pressure, to prevent the capsule falling.

This statement is actually correct. In the event of a sudden loss of pressure mechanical arms break some of the passengers limbs and jam them into the sides of the elevator to prevent the elevator from falling, so technically they are mechanical break brakes.

Imagine what a disgruntled ex-employee can do with this kind of power. They could potentially file a bogus report, or a few dozen of them, with Microsoft to get their ex-employer's supply cut off. All the person would have to do is download a pirated copy of the software, and claim the company sold it to them.

I love what you consider 'power'. If anyone is prepared to engage in fradulent activity then they have this 'power' of which you speak.

Presumably, Microsoft is going to cut off supply to any distributor who sells EULA violating copies of their products. Perhaps in many cases, legal action is going to ensue. How much money would a store lose before Microsoft realizes it was a mistake?

This is slashdot, fewer distributors of windows cannot possibly be a bad thing here.

All AMD has to do to make this happen is compete in price with Intel.

No, they can probably do that already. What AMD really need to do is invest a gazillion dollars in Fab capacity so they can compete on volume and quality with Intel, then then market will come to them. Its the lack of a gazillion dollars and investor scepticism regarding AMDs ability to mass produce high yield chips thats holding them back.
